Designation: NOT A Standalone, Cliffhanger Ahead, Book 1 of 3 Part Serial, Contemporary Billionaire Cowboy Romance (Approximately 45 pages)
ReadingPlatform: Kindle Unlimited
My Rating: Three Sexy Stars***
**This is Book One of a Serialized Trilogy but Books Two and Three have already been published and are currently available.
This was my first time reading Ella London, at least by this pen name(I believe London's writing alter ego is Paige North), and was impressed with her style and voice as an author. I will definitely continue this story by reading the next two books in this trilogy. And yes, it is a serial consisting of three separate books, Ridin' Dirty: Book One, Ridin' Hard: Book Two, and Ridin' Forever: Book Three. The final two books have already been published and are available as of the date of this review. Each book is short, quick read, approximately 40 to 50 pages each in length so all three can be read in a few hours. Although I did like the writing style and premise for the story, there were a few problems with the formatting in this first book. Hopefully, the author will address this issue which would certainly make Ridin' Dirty a much more enjoyable read. The story is written in the third person with a single perspective from the heroine, beautiful young Bostonian Arianna Ripley. The reader is not given a lot of backstory on either of the protagonists but enough to peak my interest, especially in the immediate attraction and possible developing relationship with Arianna and handsome, wealthy Montana cowboy and owner of the Heartland Ranch and Day Spa, Duke Fallon. The author does a good job of setting up the story and introducing the characters to the reader but the primary conflict of the story hasn't yet been defined in this first installment and since we know so little about the characters at this point, I have no idea how the story will develop or progress. I try to never judge a book by its cover but it's difficult to review only part of a book when you have no idea what's to come. As of now, it's good but the jury's still out, so stay tuned. No spoilers from me but I will say this... Handsome bad boy ranch owner with a quick temper who needs a fake girlfriend to gloss over some bad publicity and polish up his image-check! Beautiful city girl who needs some quick money to pay her college tuition-check! An unexpected attraction and a wild scheme with unforeseen consequences-check! Heartbreaking angst-hopefully, but we'll see! Undeniable passion, dreamy romance, and steamy sex-oh my, yes! That and a whole lot more
Did I like it? Yes, I did what I've read so far. Was it perfect? No. As I mentioned earlier, it this book had a few problems which were a little distracting but the overall writing and grammar were good. Would I recommend it? As I said, the jury's still out but it definitely looks promising. However, I would say this book should be adults only since it does contain explicit sex scenes. Will I read this author again? You bet! I intend the read the remaining two books in this trilogy and then... well, we'll see. And finally, was I entertained? Absolutely!
