I wear a size 11. I had been using a friend's size 11 Riedell skates that fit perfectly. These are TIGHT. Almost too tight. I'm trying thin socks and other things to try and make them work. I should probably return them for 12's. That's how tight they are! I am surprised since I had borrowed the Riedells from my buddy to see if they fit. I think his are a more professional model with thinner leather and these have a thicker leather that may take up more space.
That all said, these are great skates if they fit you. I suggest ordering a size larger than listed for a guy - especially if you have wide feet. If you get cramps from tight shoes, or skates, or skis - then go a size larger on these. Honestly an 11 IS a size larger for me.
Ok, some tips - these come with a nice tool for adjusting. I found these to be WAY TOO loose out of the box. The trucks would turn with the slightest pressure which was tough. I turned them about two turns tighter on the right and about 2 1/2 turns tighter on the left and that helped a lot. It made them less wiggly and less likely to turn when i didn't intend for them to turn.
The wheels are outstanding - nothing need be done there.
The bearings are very good, plenty good.
Really, these are excellent skates - just check your size and make sure you have time to return if they don't fit. My mistake was wanting these for a party and having to use them that day, so I don't feel like I can easily return them. But they are great skates.
Purple is my favorite color and when I saw these skates, I HAD to have them. (Especially for the price!) They are even cuter in person so don't be discouraged by the bright colors. I skate recreationally in a wooden and carpeted arena, so I'm not particularly hard on skates by any means. They were a little slick at first, but after a few runs around the rink, I was fine. The boot is padded which might be an issue for derby skaters.
When I got them out of the box, I had to immediately put them on. They were too adorable. However, there was a minor flaw in my left boot where the white pad meets the back of the shoe: the pad was folded which creates a bump to rub against the back of my a chilies. But after a few hours of skating, it never seemed to bother me, so I'm just going to ignore it and if it ever becomes a problem, I'd just wear thicker socks.
If you're used to rentals, then you're sure in for a treat with these: smooth rolling away! Just be sure if you buy them for a child, let them roll around on some carpet if they aren't very experienced with the feeling of new wheels. It might be a little slick for them. (It was slick for me and I'm a pretty experienced jam skater.)
