Carrie Newman is a successful interior designer working for a reputable company in Dallas. She has been in a relationship with her boyfriend Roger for six years and is relatively happy. Her whole world shatters, however, when Carrie discovers Roger’s unfaithful. Determined to make a change, Carrie relocates to Palm Beach, Florida to start a new life.
Carrie is an independent woman whose passion for interior design guides her as she navigates a new life thousands of miles away from her native Texas. In Florida Carrie meets Brad Larson an affluent investor and quickly falls in love.
Although the chemistry between Carrie and Brad is quirky at first, the plot picks up well. Carrie has a good support system, Sara her sister, and Sean, her brother-in-law and I like the fact that they're always on hand to help Carrie in her time of need.
The Right Design is a story about self-discovery, and a second chance at love. The story line is entertaining and main characters are likable. The author does a good job at depicting real-life issues with a touch of drama and humor. The Right Design was a light and fun novel to read, I rate it three and a half stars. Good job!
'You know when you're so much in love with someone and can't imagine your life without that one person, even when you're going through tough times? There is no one I'll ever love more.'
So, Carrie meets Brad at the bar where her friend, Oliver is serving up drinks. Let me tell you, Brad did not make a good first impression on Carrie that evening. How ironic it is when she finds out that Brad is her very first client. Can she get past that horrible first encounter when what she really wants is to give in to that chemistry thing they have going on? It was fun watching their relationship struggle through the awkwardness and move on to a more deeper one.
I have to admit though, I was really hoping for a few more sparks to fly between Carrie and Oliver. That would have made for an interesting twist to the story - two hot guys after one beautiful gal. Oh well, things turn out okay in the end anyway.
I really loved the relationship between Carrie and her sister, Sara. They were so totally there for each other when they needed to be. You could tell they were really close. And Sean, Sara's husband, sounded like he was a fabulous guy too. So there were a lot of secondary characters who all made the story that much more enjoyable.
The Right Design is Isabella's first novel and I enjoyed it very much. It will be exciting to see what she has planned next.
My dream movie cast for this book:
Carrie: Kelen Coleman (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2584298/?ref_=nv_sr_1)
Brad: Dylan Bruce (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1851313/?ref_=nv_sr_1)
Sara: Piper Perabo (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005305/)
Sean: Chris Pratt (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0695435/?ref_=nv_sr_1)
Roger: Brant Daugherty (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2301213/?ref_=nmmd_md_nm)
On what should have been the happiest day of Carrie Newman’s life, it doesn’t end that way. She got a surprise gift from her boyfriend Roger early in the morning for their 6 year anniversary. Then, her boss tells her she is in the running for a big promotion. She heads home early after stopping to buy a sexy outfit for Roger. The surprise is on her when she finds him having sex with another woman.
Carrie decides her life needs a change and heads to Palm Beach where she lands a dream job and meets someone new. Brad helps Carrie forget Roger, but not without a few hiccups along the way.
This was a really good book. It was well written and had great secondary characters. At first I felt sad for Carrie and her situation. But then I found myself cheering her on and she discovers her new life and happiness.

Briefly, the story opens with Carrie leaving work early on her sixth relationship anniversary, intending to make one of her boyfriend’s fantasies come true, only to find him indulging a fantasy of his own with someone else over the kitchen island. Forgoing cutting off his shirt sleeves, after a respite to collect herself, Carrie decides on a new life instead, in a new town, away from the reminders of her failed relationship. Brad, aforementioned hero, is anything but when we first meet him. He’s drunk, to be exact, and with is playboy reputation, is someone to be avoided (not easy when he turns out to be her first client). He’s also got the hot looks that hook. Again, the author makes him believable and, more importantly, root for him when Carrie’s ex-turns up to derail his and Carrie’s fledgling relationship. I won’t say more for fear of spoilers. Would I recommend it? Yes, definitely. I read The Right Design in two sittings. It’s a real feel-good read. Oh, I have to mention the cover. Just gorgeous. Loved that coral and blue almost as much as Brad did.
