It was just an ok movie. Kinda silly and predictable. Tries to tackle the issue of gun ownership and the right to self defense in a positive light, but ends up falsely portraying gun owners as trigger-happy vigilantes. Obviously, echoing some gun control politicians in the late 80's and early 90's who believed that the right to carry a gun was going to lead to mass shootings. This, obviously, never turned out to be true.

This was a good movie, lots of crazy stuff going on, of course Billy Dee handsome as ever, and Ontkean, what a combination! I wouldn't want no town telling me I can't carry a weapon to protect myself and family, but I would not want the whole town going crazy with weapons either! It was a pretty good movie.

Was truly for its time-and this time as well. Inspirational as well, as it was inspired by actual events. Its box needs its DVD cover art, "The" in its title as title's *first* word and 1986, not 2012, as its original year of film (made for TV) premiere.

This movie is a example of what the Brady commission wants us to believe. It is full of inaccurate numbers and depictions of scenarios straight out of Hollywood. Simply not real! A bunch of anti-gun rhetoric meant to sway the uninformed by instilling fear. For years people carried handgun openly to and from the range or when hunting and no one thought anything about it. It was legal then as it is in most places now.

The Police Chief in the film more or less said only people who wear a suit and tie are smart enough to make meaningful statements about what the populace should or should not do. And defending ones self and loved ones was not something that a ordinary citizen should do. Just go ahead and take the bullet, laydown, shut up and die.

Gun control is not new by any means, Wyatt Earp used it in Dodge City, Kansas and other Cities to control the rough crowd below the line. Did that stop people from carrying a weapon, NO, they just hid them from view. Most historians agree that if a man had a handgun he probably carried it in a pants pocket or coat pocket. And today most cannot carry in a Bar where alcohol is served. Many Concealed Carry permits explicitly state that rule on the form. Inform yourself, don't let some movie writer who was just handed a handful of money and told to write something antigun indoctrinate you.

This movie is extremely biased and the only redeeming factor is that it shows to what extent the anti gun community will lie to make their point. Amazon supports this view by making it a free view and charging for pro 2nd amendment movies.

Michael Ontkean gives a powerful performance as the surviving husband/father after his family is brutally gunned down. Some pretty silly over the top situational writing keep this from a 5 star rating. Would love to see this movie reworked and have the other characters /situations fleshed out in more believable fashion, but leave the dialog for the Chris Booth character alone. Recommend this movie for anyone who has concerns about their gun rights in the USA.

This movie makes both points clear...An armed society is a safer society, but simply giving firearms to ANYONE without some degree of caution in doing so, pretty much takes us back to the old west. The liberals and gun grabbing anti-freedomists just love seeing some over anxious person shoot someone for all the wrong reasons. From a conservatives view, this is not what gun owners want. your gun is your responsibility, as is what you do with it. This movie shows what can happen when a responsible citizen carries, and when the kind of weak minded person who watches too many movies carries. No sane voter ever said to arm without some sort of background check, and no one certainly said to arm convicts either. people who can be responsible, and NOT look for a reason to draw fire, will contribute to a safe, secure enviornment that the first half of this movie portrays. people who think they're some sort of action hero, or dirty harry gone mad should be punished double, and stripped of their gun rights. I carry, and can say that I have not had to pull my piece yet, thank God, but I am ready just in case.

This movie is almost funny. This is what the liberal left actually thinks will happen if the public exercises their 2nd Amendment right! Proven time and time again in the real world not to be the case.
