The best electronica album of 2004

I've heard people mock this CD so far, and I can't believe someone could mock at the ingenuity of this album.
I think people were expecting a load of junky, played-out-sounding trance tracks on this album.
Well, Ferry Corsten, previously known as System F, has been around for years and he is past the cheapy trance stage. He now has presented us with a plethora of electronica tunes in every subgenre of this music type. I suppose this would be classified as HOUSE music overall, but it goes beyond that.
The melodies are so detailed to perfection on these tracks that I sometimes get stuck in another world while listening to some of these songs. The song "Kyoto" is a really beautiful trance tune with an air of Japan flowing through it.
Not many of the songs have vocals, but the ones that do, like "It's Time" have perfect-sounding fems singing them. I think every song on this album has its own unique style, so it doesn't ever bore me to listen to the whole thing at once.
Three music videos are included on the DVD, as well as other live footage+interviews, which really makes it worth beyond the price that it's set at. Amazing deal, and this was worth the wait to hit the shelves.

A Home Run For the "Dutchmaster"

I have to say I was very surprised that this album wasnt all trance like his other material.This is one awesome dj that can move a crowd like no other.The cd that first got me into him was his Mixed Live @ Spundae,which is phenomenal epic/dream trance that will put your mind on a totally different level.His first studio album,"Right of Way" includes several different genres including trance,house,techno etc....perfect for any type of atmosphere-relaxing at home,driving,or getting down on the dance floor!This is album is very uplifting and euphoric,every track goes well together just like an actual dj mix should.Not getting this cd would be a CRIME! This is a must have for any true techno lover!

The Master of Trance Forges a Vital Album For The Genre!

It blows my mind how many people don't know who Ferry Corsten is. While Tiesto, Van Dyk and Oakenfold have blown up with major label deals and become household dj names, Corsten, one the true pioneers of the trance genre, the #6 dj in the world(arguebly #1), and the mind behind some of the greatest trance productions ever conceived in a Studio(Gouryella(formely with Tiesto), System F, and Veracocha)has somehow remained untainted by the the conventions of the scene. While Tiesto, Van Dyk and Oakenfold have all released artist albums, they have generally, with the exception of a few quality tracks, fallen way short of expectation and become more of burden than a victory to the trance scene. Several years ago, at a time when Trance was in it's infancy and the production quality of tracks was starting to show that the scene needed a new direction, Corsten moved the world with his System F track "Out of the Blue." It is no coincidence that again, at a time when the Trance scene is starting to show signs of wear and age, Corsten breathes new life into it with his latest album. Anyone who has tracked Corsten's growth as an artist with his many brilliant classic remixes, to his original genre defining tracks knows that this is man is completely comprehends what drives the trance genre. And instead of falling victum to following the conventions of the genre, like his many contemporaries, Corsten forges his own path through the jungle of trance possibilities. The result is one of the most original and inventive electronic music albums ever released in years. While many have claimed certain djs, turned artist producers, have sold their souls to the devil, Corsten has proven time and time again that he is a true pioneer of the scene and an undeniable musical genius. I won't even talk about the tracks, except to say that at a time where everything starts to sound the same in Trance, this album is a bright light of hope that is sure to inspire an entire generation of producers to move out of their shells, and into new territory. Corsten is light years ahead of everyone.

Not his usual

I am a great fan of Ferry, especially his early stuff. When he focused on his DJing of melodic trance, he was absolutely amaizing. This CD is certainly not melodic trance, but it is a good CD nevertheless. I heard a lot of the tracks on this album before I knew it was Ferry who did them and if you block all Ferry's previous stuff out of your mind, you should really love this CD.
In short, it's a great CD, but don't buy it on the back of other Ferry Corsten stuff you might have heard. This is a totally new direction for him.

This cd is awesome!

I've always liked Ferry's music, but just recently I went to one of his raves and saw him live. Listen to this cd and then go to his rave. Ferry is on his Right of Way tour in US right now. Then take that same cd and listen to it again. Every song will sound different to you now. Seeing him live and how he puts his heart and soul into each song when he performs makes it so much more beautiful. If you like techno music, put Ferry on you list of djs to see at least once. It will be worth it!

This is why Ferry is the best

This cd has it all. "Holding on" and "Hearts connected" are two of the best vocal trance songs I've heard in a while. "Kyoto" and "Star Traveler" are unbelievable uplifting trance tunes. There is even an old skool/breakbeat style song in "Its me". Another great thing is almost all of the tracks are fresh, not ones you have already heard elsewhere. You really can't go wrong with this cd.

A Pioneer ahead of his time

Ferry is a true pioneer and master of his craft. He has creativity that cannot be taught or replicated. This guy has always found a way to transform the sound and set trends.... way ahead of anyone else at his time. This CD still sounds relevant today and modern with all the synthesis and production tricks and effects...Ferry's true talent is in producing, song composition and melody creation. BTW, very rarely will I say a single Trance/EDM artist album release is worth the purchase, in other words, contains enough songs in the CD to say its a complete and quality album, but this is one of the few albums that really is full of quality tracks and is certainly worthy.
