This story dives into the idea of interspecies mixing between shifters. Most shifter stories focus on the fact that once you meet your mate, you know instantly who your mate is and that you will spend the rest of your life with that person. This series is no different. The interesting part is that these two main characters are of different species of shifters, which is one I have rarely seen. I think this added a layer to the plot to make it seem fresh and original.
Natasha is the main female character in this book. She is caring and giving, which resonates with me because I feel I am the same way. She also has a defiant and spunky side as well. I do wish I could have seen a bit more of her strength, but overall I liked her character. Logan is the ultimate alpha. With that being said, he is also sensitive and caring. I liked how understanding his character is. I also loved his fierce protectiveness.
The heat in this story is scorching. The scenes between these two are sure to make you blush. I love these scenes between them. Logan is so fierce and protective, but he also shows a vulnerable side. Natasha is a wonderful character who obviously deserves to find her true mate. I especially like that she was able to do her own thing without her family giving her too many issues.
The writing style of this book was good. I did like this book and the way the author wrote it. I felt the pace was a bit fast for me. I also felt the action could have been drawn out and described a bit more to make the reader really get into it. With that being said, I did like the characters and plot and would like to see where this series goes.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. I would recommend this book to others who like shifter books. I also plan to go back and read book one so I can get the full experience of the series. If you enjoy shifter romances, take a chance on this book. I think you will enjoy it.
Writing Style: 3.5/5
It is a really good story though. I wish I read the first one (I will now) and I will definitely read the next one. It was foretold that Natasha and her sister will grow up and marry Alphas, so their parents trained/raised her and her sister to be pack leaders. But it's not going according to what they envisioned.
Logan is Chief of his clan of bear shifters, he initially goes to visit and help out a friend of his, the Alpha of the neighboring wolf pack, but the moment he sees Natasha he knows she's his mate. Natasha is scared at first everything she thought about finding mates is so much stranger than she anticipated. Finding Logan was exhilarating and comforting yet scary at the same time. Logan is willing to give her space at first but when he feels that she is threatened by a new pack in the area nothing will stop him from protecting his mate.
Overall, aside from this being to damn short, it was really good. I love the characters and it was such an easy romance, I almost wish there was more conflict in the story. I can't wait for the next one.
It's been a long while since I've read a shifters romance novel and Right Girl, Wrong Alpha brought on all sorts of nostalgia. The story captured my attention right away and I finished it in one swift sitting.
However, as much as I liked the idea of the story, it was incredibly fast-paced - perhaps too fast for my liking - hence resulting in a lack of both plot and character development. Then again, it was just 80 pages of intense chemistry, so there's that. Perhaps I jumped into the story without knowing that it was a novella and therefore, expected more.
While I appreciate the steamy scenes and the white hot passion between mates, I just couldn't wrap my head around the instant I-love-yous, which I find to be slightly unrealistic. You do not just fall in love seconds after meeting your mate, let alone being tangled in the sheets for one night. Sure there was the unexplainable attraction, but soulmates take more than a few conversations to be nurtured and unfortunately that was a major turn off for me. However, I was genuinely more interested in Brick and Matteo's story, which has the potential to make a great read and that's driving me to continue with the series.
"When she is put in harm's way, he will stop at nothing to save her." Another problem I had with the book was the promise of this line. I do not want to reveal any spoilers from the book but somehow the promise of the blurb felt...unfulfilled? I don't know any other ways to describe it. Haha!
Nevertheless, although I wasn't a huge fan of the MC's, I find myself inexplicably drawn towards the secondary characters and hoping for their books to be written.
If you are into insta-love and alpha males, this is the book just for you!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by Inkslinger PR and the author. Thank you so much for the reviewing opportunity!
Right Girl, Wrong Alpha was a quick, enjoyable novella. Logan and Natasha experience a kind of "insta-love," but that's common for shifter true mates. This is the second book in the Brothers of the Heart series by D.J. Bryce. Book 3 is coming soon. If you enjoy shifter romance and insta-love you'll like this story!
