For what this product is, a high-end tablet without a video screen, it works very well. When i received this small box with the computer inside, i was a bit dubious, i admit. But getting it going was pretty much a snap. I plugged it into my HDTV directly and at first tried plugging the power (DC) connection into the HDTV USB port for power. That proved to be a slightly underpowered connection, so i switched to a wall plug connection, which made everything happy. Just to try it out, i plugged in my Logitech wireless mouse that was on my laptop originally, plugging the mini USB adapter into the regular full size USB port on this device. It immediately recognized and utilized the mouse, and in no time i was setting up the computer on HDMI 2 on my TV. The most difficult part of the process for me is breaking myself of the Windows mentality by double clicking everything. You only need to click on stuff once. Using my current gmail address, i downloaded and set up most of the apps that are already on my phone through the Play Store. I recommend KingSoft office, it seems to run the best for "Office" type of functions. Music played perfectly through my HDTV, and when I connected a 64Gb thumb drive with a bunch of .avi's on it, they all played in perfect quality using the standard Jelly Bean video player. Surfing the web using the Chrome browser was fast, and because i had synced it with my existing gmail account, all my bookmarks were right there. I connected a 2.4Ghz logitech keyboard/mouse combo with no problems. I then tried a Bluetooth combo, and this is where i had some issues. To get the Bluetooth keyboard paired, you need to use some other device like the 2.4 Ghz mouse, because you have to enter the 4 digit "passkey" often required by bluetooth devices.Read more ›

Plugged it in after deboxing, set up per very poor instructions, tied into wifi, setup google account for home theatre TV (purpose for this product), downloaded netflix and pandora, as I was trying to setup channels on Pandora, unit rebooted due to overheating condition of some sort. Smoke coming from unit not a good thing. After reboot, could not connect wifi after multiple attempts and several reboots.

Has fantastic promise, seemed to work great until flame out...sending it back to get a replacement....update to follow.

I own this device. These are inexpensive gadgets that allow you to have Android on your TV. Sometimes you get a well made unit. Sometimes not. Wi/Fi is poor so try and use the player close to a router. There are a few custom ROMS around which can improve performance for these little guys also. The Rikomagic units work with your Android phone or tablet as a controller. There is a APK in the Play store. Usable but I bought a mini wireless keyboard and mouse combo. Keep in mind this a product largely in its infancy like the early Android tablets. Improvements are coming quickly. A few concerns. I had a bit of a problem finding a way to power the unit.

I finally used my Galaxy Tab's wall charger. Powered USB didn't work nor did another USB device that I can plug my Tab and other Android tablets into. Sellers might want to just add a few bucks into the price and ship them with the units. Its probably a good ideal to not disconnect and reconnect the units. Leave them plugged in. Performance is on par with many tablets. Movies played fine although I didn't try any really high res films. My AVI and MKV files played fine 608 X 256 I believe. If you don't have a Android phone, tablet or wireless keyboard a wired mouse or keyboard will also work.

Its a cheap way to add some functions to your TV. Great for people who want a extra INTERNET option. Hard to go too wrong for well under $100.00 bucks.

The idea is promising, but this particular execution is sorely lacking. Firmware is updated fairly frequently by RikoMagic to fix the countless issues with previous versions. Unfortunately, the firmware is never provided in a simple .IMG format that can be loaded onto an SD card for installation on the next reboot. You have to install a firmware updating program on a Windows PC (emulation on a Mac does not work, I tried.) then you have to plug the device into USB while simultaneously holding down a button the size of a grain of rice with a thinner than normal paper clip shoved through one of the air vents. This wipes the device entirely, requiring you to start all over again only to find out they've taken one step forward and 2 steps back (IE: the 20130902 firmware sort of fixes the persistent WiFi issues, but kills video acceleration.) Also, don't plan on using this with a spare 4x3 aspect ratio monitor with DVI - video output is hard coded for 16x9 displays, and it will appear squished from the sides if it even gets video sync in the first place. I really wanted to like this, but I wish I could sent it back at this point. (Also worth noting: Quadcore devices are now shipping in quantity at similar prices, so there's very little reason to order this)

Had problems from the beginning. I kept freezing. Often all Google critical apps would crash after reboot. When I did get it to work it performed decently. After I did a factory restore it seemed to work fine most of the day. Then I decided to do a soft shutdown and start it back up again. It never booted up past the Android robot animation again. I'm returning it.
