1. Use a knife to cut off the bottom tip of the pencil barrel, exposing the hole.
2. Cut a strip of paper towel 1" wide. Roll it up into a "plug" that is the diameter of the hole in the center of the barrel.
3. Insert the paper "plug" in the hole.
4. Use a bamboo kitchen skewer to push the plug up, which will advance the eyeliner!
The paper plug should fit snug enough that it will stay inside the barrel, and will keep the liner advanced.
At first I tried just using the skewer, but the liner is too soft. The paper plug gently pushes it up without smashing it. There is soft wax at the bottom of the liner, so it acts like adhesive to attach the liner to the paper plug.
No wasted cosmetic while trying to sharpen a plastic barrel. :-)
The only way I can see this working is if you carry it around in your purse and keep checking a mirror and reapplying and reapplying... Really, though who has the time for that..
Such a shame because it's inexpensive, the color is beautiful, it has a nice, creamy consistency and glides on super smooth, but it just does not last.
I tend to have very watery eyes and oily eyelids. I am currently on a quest for a kohl eyeliner that will actually last on the waterline for a long time (maybe 4-5 hours?) without smudging or running, as I look better with eyeliner on the waterline than on the lash line. Unfortunately this did not last long for me. I would say the liner lasted maybe 30 minutes to a hour before it started running, even though I applied a bit of eyeshadow to the eyeliner on the waterline as well.
If you happen to have dry eyes or eyelids that don't get oily, you could go ahead and try this though. Sometimes whatever does not work for me very well still works for other people anyways. These makeup reviews can be quite subjective so I am trying to be fair here. I just think that people who have the same issue as me may be better off sticking with their favorite eyeliner or trying another brand instead. I decided to give this two stars, however, because the black kohl eyeliner did meet my expectations for the pigmentation. It was dark just the way I liked it. The navy blue was a bit light, however, but I think you are supposed to build up the color in layers anyways.
Also a side note: This eyeliner requires a sharpener. If you prefer retractable kohl eyeliners (like I do to be honest) this one is not for you either.
This is not my original idea but it worked for me: When my pencil was new and not yet sharpened, I cut the blunt/top end of it off with a pair of side cutters from my tool box. That part appears to be made of plastic. I had to turn the pencil several times and squeeze the cutters really hard but they finally cut through. This exposed the round hole where the product is located. I used a cotton swab to gently push the product through the exposed end. Now I have no more product loss due to poor sharpening. I put a cap over the end from another pencil that had been used up. So far, so good.

Goes on dark which is what I wanted, but does smear after awhile.Published 22 hours ago by Amazon Customer
This color in the waterline will make your eyes pop! Especially on medium to darker skin tones. White liner was just too much. Only problem is it doesn't last long. Read morePublished 1 day ago by Amazon Customer
Works really, had it on for 8 hours and it did not smudge at all. Very happy with the product.Published 1 day ago by Darcygu
Doesn't stay sharpened at all breaks way too easy... Mine came with the tip broken off and won't even sharpen. I hate it waste of money!Published 5 days ago by Ke'Osha
I've never really worn makeup until recently and this is the second eyeliner I have ever purchased. That being said, I've had very, very little practice in applying it. Read morePublished 10 days ago by Kaleigh
