Selecting a Ring Gage on Amazon.com
A ring gauge, or ring gage, is a hardened metal band that is precision manufactured for go/no-go inspections and for serving as a master for bore gauges and inside micrometers. Ring gauges usually meet Class XX, X, Y, Z, or ZZ tolerance standards, with Class XX having the tightest tolerance. They are available in inch or metric sizes, and are most often made of tool steel or tungsten carbide for durability and wear resistance. A ring gauge may be manufactured to American National Standards Institute (ANSI) specifications and may include a certificate of accuracy. While some ring gages have a plain bore for inspecting the outside diameter of parts, thread ring gages are have internal threads for measuring external threads. To measure internal threads, a thread gauge may be used. A ring gauge is commonly used in metalworking, machining, and manufacturing.
