Ringke FLEX Flexible n Strong TPU Case [Free HD Film]
The Ringke FLEX weighs 0.76 ounce and only comes in black silicone rubber. Give it a light color so it does not disappear in bags, and I would give it 5 stars. The case is very handsome on the black Moto E. It fits perfectly (so well, that the Moto's back comes off if I am not careful when I remove the Ringke). It feels nice, a lot like leather and is easy to hold for long conversations or web-browsing. The nicely rounded edges make the phone more comfortable to hold than without the case. There are no rough spots. The case does not interfere with sound quality. It makes the power and volume buttons respond well. It does not slide out of a pocket easily. The case wraps around the edges of the glass to offer some protection from drops. There is a hole to display the Motorola M. I have dropped my phone a few times on concrete, and the case protected it wonderfully.

I wanted a case that is very light and thin yet wraps around the glass to protect the device from drops. I do not care about a screen protector because I don't want to change the responsiveness of the Moto E's excellent touchscreen. So I bought five cases (Ringke FLEX, Ringke MAX, Evecase, Cruzerlite and Exact). Each case adds adds about 1/6" to the the length and width of the 5-ounce Moto E. Ringke Flex is my favorite.

Ringke MAX
The Ringke MAX weighs 1.33 ounces, which makes me rate it second to the Ringke FLEX at 0.76 ounce. The extra weight is annoying, because the Moto E is already heavy. Otherwise, the Ringke MAX and FLEX are a lot alike - handsome, excellent fit, nice feel, nicely rounded edges that make the phone more comfortable to hold than without the case. The MAX feels like it would protect the Moto E just as well.

Weighs 0.68 ounce. Fits snugly. Has an attractive swirl. The purple case darkens nicely on my black phone. The Motorola M shows through the transparent case. Does not slide out of a pocket easily. Wraps around the edge of the glass to offer some protection from drops. Nicely rounded edges but there are rough grippers on the sides that do not feel good after holding the phone for a while (if the case had the matte backing on the sides, it would have been better).

Cruzerlite Bugdroid Circuit Case
Weighs 0.66 ounce. Has a fun Android design. Nicely rounded edges feel good. Has a hole to display the Motorola M. Looks and feels better than the Exact Motorola Moto E Case [JUMP Series] - X-Line SoftGel Flexible TPU Case. Wraps around the edge of the glass to offer some protection from drops.

Exact Motorola Moto E Case [JUMP Series] - X-Line SoftGel Flexible TPU Case.
Weighs 0.59 ounce. Feels like cheap vinyl (reminds me of girl's imitation patent leather). Does not have a hole to display the Motorola M. Is totally flat inside and probably does not dissipate heat. I did not like the look and feel well enough to test the phone with it.

Absolutely The Most Well Thought Out Case For 1st Gen Moto E

This thing is Great! It is absolutely a perfect fit for the 1st generation Moto E. All the cutouts match the phone exactly. The camera cutout is dead center. There's even a cutout for the concave "M" for Motorola which is a nice touch as it gives you a place to securely hold the phone with a finger of one hand in this "valley" while texting with the other hand. The case is thin enough that full access is afforded to both the power and volume buttons and it does not interfere with the use of the headphone jack or the charging jack. The case has just the right amount of cushiness to make it comfortable to hold in the hand and the material, while smooth to the touch, has just enough tack to it to make it somewhat non-slip. I like the fact that the case curves around the front of the phone. Not only does this ensure that the phone will be retained in the case but, if perchance you should drop it, it affords an additional amount of protection that might save you from cracking your screen and, of course, you can set your phone face down on a smooth surface without worrying about damaging the screen. The last thing that I noticed that I liked about this cover is that someone in the design department thought to make textured partial cutouts on the sides of the case. This design feature, while small, improves your grip on the phone which may help you avoid damage in the long run. It is difficult to write a substantial review about an item that is so simple because, after all, it's just a phone case. Even though there are only half a dozen features to this item I feel that Ringke has produced a very well thought out product. Well worth the money and I don't think that if you own a 1st Gen Moto E you could make a better choice than this.

A decent case for only $10.

I'm going to be honest with you. For $10 it is really hard to find a case that looks, feels and functions like an Otterbox, but the Ringke basically fills that role. The plastic is firm, smooth with just the right amount of grip on the sides. The Moto E is not an easy phone to shoulder if you need to talk on it using no hands but this case does make that task just a bit easier. What I like about this case is that it slants inward towards the screen which makes holding it ergonomically comfortable. It has the correct cutouts for the camera and the rear cover Motorola logo dimple that gives the phone a nice balance for one hand operation. I looked around on Amazon for a case for the 1st Gen Moto E and many of them are either flimsy silicone slip ons, super slick brittle plastic covers or those two piece jumbo cases with the belt clip on the back. For me, the Ringke is the right balance of protection and slimness. I've only had this cover for about three days now but I've carried it in my side, rear, and coat pockets and it seems to protect well. Oh, the free screen cover that you get with the vendor that I purchased from is the same as the "Invisible Defender" brand that you buy on Amazon. I also bought a pack of those and when I took them out, I realized the were the same as the freebie that came with my cover. Oh well. While I am not trying to be biased here, I was surprised that the Ringke cover was made in Korea, not China and came in a really neat disposable package. I'm kind of look for little details like that in the products that I purchase. Yes, it is true, the rear cover does pop off when you take the phone out of the Ringke case so I'd advice taking the phone out as little as you really need to and retrieving your back cover is kind of a pain but on the other end, if you didn't get that snug of a fit, you'd have a lose fitting case so I guess you need to decide just what you are looking for. The finish of the case has held up just fine and the only other gripe I have is that the back plastic is a bit slick and I wish it had a tad more texture or even a finish similar to the back cover on the phone would be nice but you can't always have everything. The way I look at it is that I had nothing available locally for a cover for my phone so I was happy to try the Ringke case for $10.
