I wanted some simple slip-on mitts with minimal padding for heavy bag work, which I thought these were. I don't need a bunch of padding to hit a bag made up of shredded rags on the outside and some sand bags in the middle for weight. I really just wanted some comfortable leather (or equally tough material) to protect the skin of my knuckles from the friction of pounding on the bag. I definitely don't need hand or wrist wraps for bag work, and I don't even care too much about any kind of hard bar in the middle of the mitt. When I was younger, the skin on my knuckles became tough enough to endure the bag without even wearing gloves, but at 45-years-old, I don't want to deal with bloody/scabbed/calloused knuckles (embarrassing to explain in meetings).
Unfortunately, these "pleather" gloves have too much stiff padding and are permanently curved about midway to making a fist, so it's hard to get my fingers into the right places, and the gloves end up wearing out my forearms from trying to constantly hold my fingers in a fist while fighting the shape of the gloves. I'll be sending them back for something more minimal.
