Perfect fit, to get used to them I pu them on and walked around the house with them all day.
Fit good and my son can kick without them coming off like the regular plain gear.
He has told me that they fit great and are very light and easy to kick with.

I really thought these shoes were a stupid idea--how can you kick properly in shoes, really? However, I've tried four or five types of foot pads and always had problems with slippage, straps getting between my toes, and with my feet getting sore. I broke down and bought a pair of these this weekend at a tournament, and they absolutely rock! No matter what you do, they absolutely do not slip. They are less bulky than a lot of foot pads, so they allow more precisely targeted kicking. I was worried that competing in them without practicing in them first would be a problem, but there was exactly zero adjustment time. They aren't as flexible as traditional footpads, but I found that I was still able to flex my foot back to do a good side kick. I also got kicked with a couple of different pairs of them (hey, you can't block every kick) and they did not hurt any more than regular footpads. When these wear out, I will definitely buy more.

This is my second pair of these. I have worn out the first pair after about 3 years of use. They are great shoes for training and sparring. Be careful I think they may have changed the manufacturing process I owned size 8 and when I received the new pair my feet would not fit into the shoe I had to exchange for a size nine. you may want to try one size larger than normal.

If you're constantly spraining & jamming toes during heavy hitting fight sessions, then this is the martial arts shoe for you. They offer just the right amount of support to prevent ankle & toe injuries during sparring. They are padded across the top of the foot as well, which your sparring partner will appreciate. For their size they are amazingly light. I am on my second pair now. I've used the version with laces under the pads & I've used the version with just velcro closures, I like them both. If you're looking for a shoe to wear while doing forms/katas, I would suggest a lighter minimal shoe. I've been a martial artist since the 1970s so I am older, and I don't recover from injuries as quickly as I used to. All the other shoes I've tried didn't do much to offer all-around protection during the hard hitting combat fighting of Kajukenbo. I've seen a negative review or two, but it's obvious that it's all about "why" you're going to be wearing the shoes. Fight & hit hard... these shoes are great..., doing forms/katas & light sparring, probably not the shoes for you. Also, socks with minimal flat seams are more comfortable when wearing these shoes.PS... I use these shoes indoors only. Don't know how they'll hold up if used outdoors on hard pavement or rough services. PS... I use these shoes indoors only. This was the second pair of Ringstar Fighting Shoes that I had purchased for my daughter who is heavily into martial arts. The firs pair lasted about 3 years with heavy usage and I feel that these shoes are well worth the investment. They last so much longer than the foam foot covers (kicks) that most kids and adults are given when first taking up martial arts. Couldn't be happier with these. Well made and longlasting.... a great combo.

It's hard to truly critique something when there's no alternative.

Akin to many fitness kickboxing gyms, mine sports wooden floors...making shoes a necessity. Even as a veteran Muay Thai kickboxer, my puppies can't take the pounding from the jumping these classes require.

Nearly every athletic shoe on the market, however does not flex enough to allow posting on the ball of the foot and/or provide significant padding for poorly placed banana bags.

The FightPro check both boxes...but at a literal and build quality cost. First things first: these are not cheap. But when there's nothing else out there...be grateful they exist. I almost want to buy 3 pairs to ensure Ringstar stays in business and/or prepare if they shut down.

On fit: these are meant to be tight...and stretch after 2 weeks. Do NOT buy bigger sizes. It's dangerous when doing sparring and/or movements requiring good foot feel. I called the company - who was very responsive - and advised to wait it out. After 4 days of use, they fit like a glove. Speaking of said customer service, they remain awesome. Very responsive to emails...and stand by their products 100 percent.

The padding at foot instep is OUTSTANDING, essential as this is where the majority of kicking injuries occur. Even after 6 months, the padding is holding up nicely.

What is not holding up well are the ultra thin foam bottoms. I understand these meant for mats where friction isn't as prevalent. Wood, however, eats right through them. Almost immediately I required a pair of insoles to compensate for the reduced padding also complete absence of arch.

After 6+ months of 3x a week use, these look like they've been through a war. Bottoms are thin and dirty, tongue area stripped away.

My had a pair of white ringstar size 8 (universal) that were about 1.5" to long in the toe. She wears a size 6 mens. This time we ordered a size 6 and they were absurdly small compared to the 8's. We returned them and ordered a black size 7. Also way to small and returned.

We ordered the same Ringstar size 7 black from Century Martial Arts and the Unisex 7 fits fine with about .75" in the toe.

As far as quality she had her 8's for about a year. Wore them a few hours twice a week. The sewn loop side of the velcro on the shoe started unraveling and pulling away on both shoes. The rest of the shoe looks brand new. We'll see how long the black ones last.
