The details on the ad sucks .........This is a great little converter is stable to one hundredth of a volt ........On my FLUKE 87 . Even with a load the voltage did not fluctuate at all when I swept from 12.5v to 18v on the input for testing .The output voltage was set at 7.45v and remained at 7.45v . However I found that if the input voltage drops to close to the output voltage the output voltage will start dropping . Load will also effect the voltage variance with low input voltage . I hope that this helps you

I bought this to efficiently run a Raspberry Pi from a 12VDC lead-acid battery. It not only runs the Pi, but a powered USB hub with some high-current USB peripherals as well. Everything runs great and very stable, even as the input voltage varies (this is due to solar charging). I was originally going to build one of these myself, but it's mighty hard to beat Amazon's price on a fully-assembled unit, especially when you consider shipping costs from most discrete component suppliers.

I bought one of these to use in a couple of projects. When it arrived I had some problems with it, and emailed the vender for help. Within a few hours I received an answer (from China) with a few suggestions and questions. I emailed back - and within a day I got a reply that they had shipped me a new unit! Excellent service I think! The second one works great. I like the product and I'll be ordering a few more of them. The only down side is that shipping from China takes a couple of weeks. Not usually an issue for me.

By the way, the problem I was having was probably my fault in the first place. The device arrives with the potentiometer set for near maximum output voltage. It also adjusts very slowly and takes many turns counter-clockwise to see any voltage changes at the output. The output voltage always appeared to be .5V less than the input and it didn't seem to me that the potentiometer had any effect. However, this is actually a feature and allows the output to be precisely adjusted. Just persevere and keep turning it CCL and you'll eventually see the output voltage drop.

The product is actually pretty good an loosely follows the suggested circuit for the regulator data sheet. The main problem is the use of a 35V cap on the input. With any capacitor, you never, ever exceed the rated voltage. They can and will fail dead short and blow up.
In fact, we normally never use anywhere near the max rated voltage stamped on a capacitor. So with it being 35V rated, MAX recommend input is roughly 30V making the output a safer 28.5 voltts since both caps are rated 35 volts and the input must be about 1.5 volts higher than the output. The best and easiest thing to do is just change the rating to match the actual components used.
Ideally they should have used 50 volt rated caps. Also note that per the suggested circuit in the data sheet, you should have a larger value 680uF VS the current 220uF.
[...]
Again, it's not a bad circuit and it works, just don't run it up to the max voltage rating. Hopefully they will change the rating but this review is for those who already bought or are looking and need that high of an input rating.

Hooked this little guy of to a nice power supply and a oscilloscope and gave it a work out. Once set to the desired output voltage, changing the input voltage or load had almost no effect on regulation. I've been using to drive parts-express's BT-1A Bluetooth module in my car and it's holding up quite well. Can take the Florida heat and the abuse of being in a car and still hasn't changed its output voltage from 5V. The price is excellent and I recommended this to all of my engineering friends.

Powered pi and attached arduino without a problem from a lipo 7v battery. Measured around .5 amps at 7 v continuous

You can't even buy the components to build this as cheap as this assembled power buck. And if you are making your own trailcam or setting a DSLR up for Astronomy, then this puppy will be one of the components you need. Use a power meter to adjust the voltage, then check it with the camera up and running.

Basic stuff here, folks. But verify whatever you are hooking up to this doesn't exceed the limiters amp rating.

Does just what it's designed to do...steps down DC voltage. Input and Output connections are clearly labeled, output voltage is easily adjustable. Quite a handy little hobby gadget.

I use it outdoors in below freezing temps, doesn't seem to bother it at all.
