"Ripped Apart shows exactly how polarization harms us, and why understanding this will help us win. Read this book before it's too late." --Ying Lee Kelley, former legislative aide to Rep. Ron Dellums, founder of the Congressional Black Caucus.
From the Author
There's a myth that Joe Biden should apologize for causing massive incarceration of Blacks with his 1994 crime bill. So I checked the National Academies' report on imprisonment. Black incarceration went up less in the five years after the bill than in the two years before. Since then it's been coming down. But White incarceration didn't slow and it kept going another 15 years.
Joe was no racist, his bill was backed by most Blacks including 2/3 of the radical Congressional Black Caucus. That example and a couple of dozen others tell the story: We would beat Trump with ease except for a small group of well-meaning but deluded radicals that is attacking the Democrats from the inside and accidentally handing ammunition to Trump for the dirtiest campaign in American history. There may still be time to stop this calamity.
