So, the regular DVD Omen Collection is 6 discs and contains 5 movies, one of them being the 2-disc original Omen special edition. It costs $23. The Blu-ray version has 4 discs, only 4 movies, and no special features that I can see, and costs $90. Seems really equitable. How exactly do they expect this format to succeed?
It does have quite a few special features, to be fair. But yeah. It's not Blu-ray's fault so much as Fox/MGM--their prices are not exactly competitive with other studios' Blu-ray releases.
Oh yeah: And why bother including the remake in this set? It was already released on BD and I'm sure anyone who was at all interested already has it; leaving it out surely would have kept the price down. (I'm guessing they, uh, had a lot of copies left over and knew a good way to capitalize when they saw it.)
Tell me about it! They could have at least included part four in the blu ray version, but nooooo! And the price is so scary! Bad economy, and blu ray is still shelling out ridiculous prices! Stick to DVD!
Remember when VHS were $20-25 each? and then dvd.....well now its a new format. I have seen plenty of blurays for $10-15, has nothing to do with bluray, its the companys who put out the movies. Just because bluray looks like a dvd doesn't mean it is one. Its like saying buy old video cds instead of dvds because they're cheaper.
I found the blu ray set at Amoeba in Hollywood - new but marked down to only $27.99 on account of the cardboard cover was crushed. I found it to be a steal. I now have four empty blu ray cases just waiting for some wicked custom cover art if anyone knows of anything like that out there.
SDK just look for custom covers online for the Omen collection I'm sure somebody has done one for it already. http://www.dvd-covers.org/art/Blu_Ray_Covers/Movie_Blu-Ray_Custom_Covers/The_Omen_Collection_BluRay.jpg.html
