"I loved it! It was inspirational and uplifting, really! It was perfect for me especially since I was really in isolation because I was positive with COVID. Everyone should read Rise from the Dread!" -- Carol, Life Care Patient
"Thought-provoking and insightful book for all those readers who are trying to survive in adverse circumstances and find a connection with their inner self." Readers' Favorite
From the Author
One of the most remarkable events in my life has been when Dr. Maxine Mimms b.3/4/1928 (founder of Evergreen College) read my first memoir and was so impressed that she recommended it to her best friend, Rev. Dr. Ruth Kelly, who then invited my twin and me to her home to talk philosophy with the two of them. Both these legacy women are Maya Angelou's best friends and Oprah Winfrey's closest and most respected mentors, so you can imagine the great surprise and amazement I felt when Dr. Mimms paid any attention to the effort I made in the writing and my life! Now that I've finished more than 20 years of writing and research and have gained knowledge and rare insight into the ever-changing writing and publishing field, I would like to pay forward that same sense of upliftment to others. Although I am nowhere near the caliber of those two African-American women, I hope to share even an ounce of encouragement I received from them. There have also been numerous other people throughout my life who inspire me. Thanks for taking the time to read one of my books and uplifting me to continue on. May you feel connected and inspired throughout the rest of your great life and always.

If you want to overcome stress, worry, and anxiety because you've been misunderstood, reduced to a caricature, or classified wrongly then this book is for you. The book blends the power of nature, solitude, meditation, inner engineering, words, intuition, silence, self-awareness, and imagination to provide happiness, peace, serenity, and calm to your heart and mind. Recommended reading.
Rising from the Dead is a well-written self-help book that gives peace of mind. The author's voice is authentic and trustworthy. Anyone who longs for a life with more silence and a life where nature plays a bigger role will enjoy and benefit from reading this book. If life has knocked you over, this read will help the reader getting back on track.
I enjoyed the tone of this writing. There was a nice balance of research, personal example, applications, and inspirational quotes. Bit-sized chapters made it easy to pick up and put down as needed. A thought-provoking journey.
This provides a good overview to a zen life and silent meditation and reflection. The book is very positive and I would have liked it to deal a bit with all the slips and falls we may encounter along the way.
A good self-help book on how to deal with stress and shift your life to a happier state-of-mind. With practical examples, the author writes in a very personal way, which is easy to connect. Worth the read.
This book is actually two books in one. It’s very unique and a guide to living. It’s talks about God, being spiritual, loving your self, loving those around you, forgiving others, being kind to yourself, taking care of your self, mind, body, and soul. Drinking lots of water, eating healthy foods, drinking tea, taking care of your mental state and physical state. I wish I would have read this as a young college student. A lot of the things I already knew but it’s a very good read and so much good information. There were some grammatical errors but the information is so good, I have to give it 5 stars.
