This was the cd I was looking for when I purchased Duff’s Tenderness album. There were glimpses of harmony, strain, and sorrow, but after listening to Tenderness I was really left wanting. On this new outing by Tom Keifer I was immediately transported to a place of down home harmony, strain, sorrow, and hopeful aggression. So thankful I made this preorder purchase at the last minute because it is hitting me in all the right places. It rocks too! And the rock is in all the right places, too! Loved the first cd, but it was a while ago, so hard for me to compare, but this one will be in my rotation for a while. Thanks Tom.

I was really excited to hear this was finally coming out. Unfortunately it really falls flat for me. I thoroughly enjoyed "The Way Life Goes", and was hoping for something similar sounding. I honestly had trouble making it all the way to the end. If you're a fan of the first 2 singles on YouTube, you'll love the album, if you're looking for classic Cinderella, you'll be disappointed. Swing and a miss for Tom and the gang on this, 2 stars for trying, I couldn't give it just 1. I'll keep listening to "Memoirs of an Uprising" from Damon Johnson, for my singer, guitar player, songwriter fix.

After coming out with “The Way Life Goes”, this new album is KILLER. When “The Death Of Me” was released as a single, I knew it was going to be heavy, but the whole album takes it to another level! Gone are the old Cinderella days, this #Keiferband album did not come to play games! If you want some old school -melt your face off- rock that digs deep into your soul, this is the album to get! Can’t wait to hear some of these new tracks live! Rock on!

If you're a fan of Tom or Cinderella, or of just gritty, bluesy, hard rock in general, you'll love this album. Not sure what else to say; this album is lit! The harder rockers on this album are some of my favorites and very well written. Tracks like "Hype" or "Untitled" won't probably get as much recognition, but you'll feel the groove with those, as well.

Not the best Tom Kiefer release. His first solo album was good, 4/5 stars. His Cinderella stuff was a lot better than this release too. Rise may get better the more I listen, that is if I can be bothered wanting to like it...

Als alter Cinderella Fan habe ich mir das Album vorbestellt, da ich auch sein erstes Solo-Album "The Way Life Goes" recht gelungen fand. Gingen Tracks wie "Solid Ground", "A Different Light" oder "Ask Me Yesterday" noch gut ins Ohr und erinnerten in nostalgieschwangeren Augenblicken sogar leicht an die good old Cinderella days, sind die nun gelieferten Songs meiner Meinung nach leider deutlich schwächer ausgefallen.
Den Opener "Touching the Divine" musste ich nach einer Weile skippen und auch Songs wie "Taste for the Pain" oder "You Believe in Me" lassen jede gute Melodie und jeden Groove vermissen. Der Rest ist mir insgesamt viel zu modern ausgefallen. Die einzig hörenswerten Tracks waren für mich bislang "All Amped Up" und "Waiting on the Demons".
Allerdings frage ich mich insgesamt, wo seine Stimme geblieben ist... Natürlich sind mir die diversen Gesundheitsprobleme und Stimm-Schwierigkeiten von Herrn Keifer in der Vergangenheit nicht entgangen. Umso erfreuter war ich dann, ihn auf "The Way Life Goes" wieder fast bei alter Stärke zu sehen. Aber erschreckenderweise ist davon offenbar wenig übrig geblieben... Auf "Rise" wird er stimmlich nun von seiner (meiner Meinung nach äußerst attraktiven aber musikalisch eher verzichtbaren) Frau Savannah unterstützt, dazu kommt eine Abmischung zugunsten von Bass & Co., die ebenfalls einen Teil der Stimme schluckt - und das sicher nicht zufällig. Lediglich bei einem Track (der mutmaßlich nicht beim ersten Take saß), dem netten "Waiting on the Demons", kramt Mr. Keifer einen Hauch alter Genialität hervor. Da mich Melodien und Songwriting leider ebenfalls nicht vom Hocker hauen, fällt der erste Eindruck leider sehr mau aus...
