I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review by the author and I feel blessed to have done so.
They have an apple orchard, all of the younger children help out with picking the fruit, so it can be sent to market. They also have milk cows, that have to be milked and then the milk is churned to make butter, which is a valuable commodity
One of Joel's friends, Ben Thayer, a single man whose farm is a mile down the road, has promised Joel that he will look in on the family and help out where he can.
It is a good, nice Christian book, sweet and wholesome. I highly recommend it.

I haven't read a lot of this authors books, and was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I would absolutely buy this book and in fact plan to purchase some of her previous books. For me, events in the current news and life in general sometimes leave me with a deep longing to escape these complicated times and reading is an escape for me. This book is like a favorite quilt that you wrap around yourself, or your favorite casual clothes, or that first sip of your favorite warm drink. Comfort just seeps from its' words. Though the story still involves the hardness of life, it speaks of a simpler life, and of the important things in life which are the same no matter the era.
Excellent! And I WILL be reading more of this author's books.
