...The links to the events in "The Last Letter," the excitement of the events in the current book and the hints at what is to come in the next installment combine to keep a new reader interested. Ms. Shoop then researched the lives of the wealthy, the divorced, the evangelist, the farmer and the orphan to build a family saga that is fresh and insightful...Ms. Shoop touches us with the lives of three people who have lost everything, yet who have hope for a secure, if not wealthy, future with no safety nets to protect them. --Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Lorinda Hayes
Broken family connections, miracles, hopes, and redefined pasts: all these form the foundation of a powerful story that's Book Two of The Letter Series in a saga which stands powerfully and firmly on its own for newcomers, yet creates and cements a powerful account of change for those who want further details on the evolving story of uncertain family connections and ultimate healing.--D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review
The Road Home (The Letter Series Book 2) by Kathleen Shoop is a very well written and engaging book. I am a fan of historical novels, and The Road Home is a well-told yarn that held my attention and gave me a wonderful reading experience. Kathleen Shoop can paint vivid pictures with her words. I got the feeling of being immersed in the culture, the times, and the characters' lives. Emotionally, this book hooked me. --Reviewed By John Thornton for Readers' Favorite--5 stars
The plot is unpredictable and will make readers wait eagerly to know what is going to happen next... The setting of the plot and the imagery is aesthetic and beautiful. The characterization of the twins and their mother, Jeanie Arthur, is exceptional, and they stand out in their individuality though being family. This book will touch the hearts of readers with its beautiful message of forgiveness and hope.--Mamta Madhavan for Readers' Favorite--5 stars!
Kathleen Shoop is a master of emotional depth and creativity, and readers who enjoy a deeply psychological read will appreciate the journey they're taken on. I especially enjoyed the dedication Shoop puts into making her dialogue sound authentic to the time period, as well as her clever use of different situations which children and young people faced in those dire times. Overall, an excellent read.--K.C. Finn for Readers' Favorite 5 Stars!

Wow! if it is a book by Kathleen Shoop it must be extra ordinary to read, right? This book is historical for one. If you love history, then this book is for you. Secondly, Ms. Kathleen always makes you teary eyed every time you read her books. Road Home is not an exemption. Be prepare to add a box of tissue closes to you.
I have a heavy heart while reading this amazing book. Three siblings Katherine, Tommy and Yale have different experienced but nonetheless you want them to give them a hug. The siblings suffered so much from loss and abused. Politics also is one theme of this book. You want to struggle the Reverend and the Judge. I hate those bastards.
Though the road to home for these siblings are not easy, it was worth every journey. My favorite part of this book is when Yale read a caption of letter that comes from their Mom. I was a wrecked in that moment.
The most intriguing event in the novel is Jeanie’s funeral that is filled with mourners who tell stories of her generosity and goodwill. Katherine’s life of servitude in the home of a lewd farmer, Tommy’s adventures and survival in the woods kept me absorbed until the end. I can’t wait to read Book 3 to find out what happens to the main characters who have lost everything and yet keep their hopes up because of their deep love for one another.
