After a rough start, it was fun to see a friendship develop between the main characters, who seemed opposite in so many ways. Anisha is a lovely character with her creative ideas to keep the children occupied, and her upbeat attitude, making the journey more of an adventure for them. Her faith shines through and brings a ray of hope and encouragement to the others, speaking truth in love. It reminded me of the verse in Proverbs that says "iron sharpens iron", as she helps Wyatt to let go of his bitterness and find renewed purpose in life. It made me examine my own reluctance to engage and use my gifts to help others. I like the reminder that God doesn't abandon His children, and that His plan for us is good.
Recommend to readers who enjoy a clean historical romance with faith.

I would definitely recommend this book!
A pleasant and enjoyable tale, The Road Home raises the question of how people deal with loss. All of these characters have lost something or someone dear to them and they all react in different ways. The story gently points to trusting in God no matter what difficulties this life brings. It contains a gentle romance and plenty of delightful moments involving the children.
