Using the setting of the Hawaiian Islands, the book describes the searches of five burned out people for Healing and Mana. Mana can be viewed as Spiritual Power and Energy. The five people include a burned out physician, a burned out soldier, and three others with major relationship issues in marriages and families. By focusing on five wellness practices of Movement, Nutrition, Mindfulness/Meditation, Massage and Yoga, the journeys of the five people show how healing, happiness and health can occur.
If you are burned out and interested in implementing these five practices, then the author’s organization of Core Wellness Hawaii in Kailua, HI should be able to help.
I strongly recommend this book on the search for wellness and Mana as you or loved ones journey beyond burn out.
Michael J. Stahl, Ph.D.
Felt like a cleverly disguised self help book. Clever because it didn’t feel like reading the awkward trite 90’s garbage you see floating around in your parents basement. But it was sincerely helpful and full of little tidbits I could actually apply in my actual life...not the pretend life I imagine I’ll have after I get inspired by reading a book like this. Definitely check this one out!
If you are looking for perspective on how life can be lived in good health, light spirit and gratitude, read The Road to Mana.
Written by a physician, the book offers life-giving alternatives to traditional medicine. The author focuses on the mind-body-spirit connection through awareness, movement, nutrition, meditation, massage and yoga. The Road to Mana is an engaging story but much more; it’s also a fresh and much-needed approach to life.
