Perfect accesory for the VIAIR air compressor, or many other acc'ys you might need to run off your car battery

These i bought to go along with the mini compressor for cars, the VIAIR 70P Portable Air Compressor - 00073. I wanted these so i could just hook straight up to the battery, pump my air in the tires and know i'll have enough cord length to do all 4 of them. This is not supposed to be a plug for the VIAIR unit i suppose, but it really is a superior little air comp, and these are the perfect accesory to go with it - almost a necessity from my view. If you dont have these gator clamps you lose a few feet of power cord length, you will have to be moving the compresssor and cord around a lot too, plus, if your cigarette lighter outlet is blown out, or broken like mine always seem to be - then you cant use the VIAIR to fill your tires. These clamps make grabbing aux 12v power from your car battery easy. .Only thing wrong with them is the clamp springs are too weak if you have side termial battery, but it works well enough if you take care not to yank on the clips, nor to short them out either.

Wire is not true AWG size

Wire is not true AWG sized and are way undersized for their expected amperage. Wire rating serve a vital purpose to prevent fires associated with amps burning up the wire. Probably 95% of the wire sold on the internet today is actually 3 or 4 gauges below what they are advertised.
In these clips mine were more like 22 gauge wire with the rest being plastic sheathing. No way it could safely carry 10 amps. 7 amps the wire was getting very hot and the plastic was getting very soft.

This stuff is dangerous and Amazon should start puling listings for any electrical wire that does not meet or conform to AWG or UL guidelines.

I purchased this along with a "VIAIR 85P Portable Air Compressor" as I have read too many reviews of people who have blown fuses in their car by plugging it into the cigarette lighter or the DC ports in their vehicles. It has worked great so far, I have topped off all four tires in one car, 2007 mazda 3 hatchback with low profile sport tires, and it worked great. Good solid connections.
The only complaints I have are that the cable is only 2 feet long, so with some longer wheelbase cars/trucks, it may struggle to reach the back tire on the opposite side of the battery. However with my vehicle listed above, it does not have a problem reaching the back tire on the opposite side of the battery but it was getting close to the end of it's reach with a little bit of slack left.
The only other complaint is the rubber insulated grips on the outside of the clips slip off somewhat easily from the clips themselves.

They are only minor complaints from me and have not hindered my experience personally but I could see how in some instances it might cause a problem. All in all I think this is a great product and should last quite some time for me. I would recommend this to most people looking at it!

I'll make the review short and sweet, just like the cables. I finally had to use them over the weekend. I needed to charge my cellphone and our power was out, so I was going to take an inverter I had purchased, plug it into the cars cigarette lighter, and then plug my phone into it. Complicated I know! Too bad I can't post a flow chart for you lol. Honestly, it was not going to be hard at all, it was actually going to be a pretty straight forward process. However, much to my chagrin, the cigarette lighter was broken. Luckily, I had these Roadpro cables on hand! Now I just hoped the worked. I popped the hood, clipped on the Roadpro Adapter and then plugged my inverter in. Voila!!! The inverters green power light kicked on. I then plugged my cellphone into my inverter and was able to charge the phone very fast.

On a side note, I had purchased a Viair 00073 70P Heavy Duty Portable Compressor a while back that pumped ties via getting energy through my cigarette lighter. While I was out there, knowing that my lighter was broken and w/ the hood already up, I broke out the tire pump and tried it. I plugged it into the Roadpro adapter and it took right off. It felt great knowing these items actually worked. Seriously, for as cheap as this product is, everyone should have one.

In my previous review of the seller, I gave a 5-star review before using the product. This is to revise that review & comment on the adapter. Basically this adapter is junk. I plugged it in & it didn't work. I plugged in several items that I knew were in working condition & none of them worked with this adapter. I got out my electrical tester & discovered an open in the red line. Upon further inspection I realized there was a cold solder joint where the red wire attached to the red clip. I tried to re-solder it since it didn't make sense to pay to return a $5 item. I got it to work, but will be throwing it away. I originally purchased this to go with my portable air compressor. Based on the low quality of the product, I don't want to risk relying on it in case of a flat tire. I'll buy something more substantial locally.

I got 2 sets of these and they are great. Personally I'm going to use them with some old car batteries I have laying around, as a backup house tablet charger in the house (using my tablets' car charger cable). I say backup because I use Uninterruptable Power Supplies (APC1000 and CyberPower1000's as my "primary" charger during our frequent power outages, for cells and tablets (The UPS's are basically fancy ($) batteries anyway, albeit with wall plug sockets, so think about not throwing away your old batteries.....yes, I do have a stand alone but cheap battery charger.)
The clips open fine if you slide the boot insulators down a bit because the 2 boots per clip have a wide base which otherwise engage eachother and prevent wide opening. Or just remove the boots or one leg of eacj pair and use a little electrical tape as a new thinner boot.
P.S. Not sure, but I don't think longer cables are necessarily a good thing if you consider voltage loss occurs with longer conductors.

Ok cable. I wouldn't use it for a high amp draw like a big inverter or cooler. There is no in line fuse so if youre connecting right to a battery you want to make sure at least your device is fused. The cable is shorter then i thought it would be. I measured 2 feet 14 awg wire. The clamps are kind flimsy. It works for what I bought it for, My pickup doesnt have a switched 12v accessory port. So I used an add a fuse to tap into a switched 12v fuse, cut the ends off this and soddered them together now I have a switched 12v port for my cell booster. Id caution on using this method for high draws like coolers and inverters, you would be better using a relay system. My draw is only .3A

The plastic covers on the battery terminals are completely dysfunctional, the socket is poorly made such that the connection was poor for the device I was plugging in. Find something else, this doesn't work.
