I also use this adapter now when using my car vac (with engine running) as well. It can also be used with powerful air compressors that would normally blow the lighter fuse in your car as this enables you to plug those directly to the battery, bypassing the car's fuses.
I recently ordered some more since the price was cheap and free Amazon Prime shipping from a seller called "River in the Sky".
The ones from River in the Sky had cables that were half the length and looked like they were 18AWG cables although I'm not 100% sure on that since the cables don't bother to list their size as most cables do.
The adapters that I got sold by Amazon looked to be 14AWG cables and twice the length. The battery clamps also seemed to be of better quality.
My order that was sold by Amazon was at least a month ago probably more so I can't say if it's a change in the product or another seller selling junk I wont give the seller a bad rating not knowing if it's their fault or not.
I would have given this one star but for the price.... about half of what the ones sold by Amazon are.... and should come in handy although I would like to know if it's a different product coming from the seller or just the company that makes them getting cheap. I'm getting much less trusting of these sellers that sell through Amazon and this isn't the first time I've had an issue with a product sold by a third party merchant and have seen reviews saying different things but not listing what seller sold them.
The box was beat up when it arrived but I'm guessing that's the fault of UPS and the packing should have been enough to easily protect the product and if not then they are even lower quality than I thought.
The clips open fine if you slide the boot insulators down a bit because the 2 boots per clip have a wide base which otherwise engage eachother and prevent wide opening. Or just remove the boots or one leg of eacj pair and use a little electrical tape as a new thinner boot.
P.S. Not sure, but I don't think longer cables are necessarily a good thing if you consider voltage loss occurs with longer conductors.
