Yes, the sound quality of some of these songs is a little poor, but what do you expect for songs that are 90 years old! This is a great CD collection if you want a trip down memory lane, or for a themed party.

Nice price and pretty good selection but the some complaint I had with the similar set, The Swinging Thirties. The performers and titles were printed in such small letters you can hardly read what it says. Much better selection of music than the thirties set. It's worth the price of the set to hear Ethel Waters sing My Handyman

There is a lot of jazz here. Fletcher Henderson, Duke Ellington, Bix Baederbacke, Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Earl Hines, Bessie Smith and Cab Calloway.
I like the more subdued, sadder music that was to follow in the 30s.
This is just too frenetic for me on the whole.
Good sound quality.

so many great songs. It is amazing how many songs I know as 1950's or 1960's standards, but never realized that they were written in the 20's and 30's. Stand-out songs for me in this CD are the tunes highlighting the Dorsey Brothers, including "Was It a Dream" and "Let's Do It, Let's Fall in Love" with Bing Crosby. Plus it's an opportunity to hear songs by certain artists that I know by name, like Fletcher Henderson and Bix Beiderbecke, but their songs just aren't played that much. All in all, a great CD with a lot of terrific songs and well worth the money.
