Wait....isn't this Publishing for Dummies - aka - include all intended pages?

Prior to starting this book from the beginning I jumped around to a couple of sections I thought would be interesting. In flipping to one of these sections of interest I discovered that roughly 8% of the book, pages 145 to 176, was missing. Not being a brain surgeon, I assumed that page 144 would be closely if not directly followed by page 145 rather than page 177. Observing no torn out pages or modifications to the books spine (full disclosure - I am neither a publisher nor a forensic investigator) I was left to assume that I must have missed or overlook a motion in earlier pages that rescinded pages 145-176? Who would second such a motion? I now have no idea how our meetings are going to turn out but expect its back to the status quo of name calling, fists flying and charges filed. I had such grandiose hopes of developing a semblance of order leading to some basic level of civil discourse and far less bloodshed at our meetings. Damn you seconder.......damn you!

This is, in my opinion, the best book out there for whose who, like me, are involved with non-profit organizations. We know about Robert’s Rules of Order, but we’re not Parliament. More likely than not, RRO’s incredibly-weighty, literally hundreds of rules, simply do not apply to us. Depending on our organization’s governing documents, we may be required to be governed by RRO—but, for small organizations, probably not: do take a look at your organization’s governing docs. So, whether for those of you in the “must” camp or the “don’t have to” camp, this book is still for you. There came a time that I was involved with founding and then maintaining a small non-profit organization. I took out quite a few books about Robert’s Rules of Order from my public library, and bought perhaps two. Thank goodness one of them was this volume! My little non-profit is not Parliament! We don’t need to know about the hierarchy of three or more sub-motions that may follow a motion! We need to know what “informal” rules may govern our organizations. This book provides absolutely invaluable assistance to leaders of all smaller-than-Parliament organizations.

I have consulted several "Dummies" books in the past and I bought this one to help me navigate my first year as President of a Church ladies club. I read the entire book. Unfortunately this book does not contain the actual Roberts Rules of Order, and the author made a point of directing the reader to look up the actual rules themselves and not to rely on the "Dummies" book alone. The were several proofreading errors and outdated items in the text. I got the impression the author merely added a few paragraphs at the beginning and changed the date to a newer version. I learned some things about parliamentary procedure but not nearly as much as I had hoped.
