The touch screen is also well thought out and is easy to understand and button touches work fast. I'm sure the screen will hold up well. It is easy to read in the bright sun of OK. I used it after a day of rain, all I had to do was place a ziplock freezer bag over the head. I always did the same with my White's so no big deal there.
The ground grab works excellent no guess work just touch ground grab button and follow normal procedures for ground balancing.
The unit has all the discrimination anyone could ever use. Discrimination also worked very well if you are into using such options, personally I dig all targets.
I have lost many great finds by using discrimination, but hey that's a whole other subject, to each his own.
The target recognition works as good as any I have used, From White's, Garrett's, Minelab. None of them are exact and never will be, another subject, sorry, I'm just an avid enthusiast.
Speaker is loud and easy to hear, this unit will not use the normal headphones. I never use them anyway, so no problem with me.
All detecting in this review was done in my back yard. This area is hard to detect in because there are high voltage wires running right behind the area I have for detecting. Approx 15' away and the wires are about 30' up. I had to have sensitivity set at the lowest setting because of interference from high voltage wires.
I found a small rusty nail at about 10", screen ID was iron,The detector says there is still something in this hole, but I stopped after the nail and it was getting to hard to dig with my small trowel. Also found a small 1" square tin looking badge abut 5" under, detector bounced from dime to zinc. At this point I did not pin point, only because I am not used to having this feature
I buried some targets from 4"- 9", quarter, dime, pennies, pull tab 2ea, silver dollar size token from Stardust Casino, and three nickels . First had setting on all metal, picked them all up. Then set to coins, again picked them all up. One penny was ID'ed as a dime. The large token was ID'ed as zinc. Pin pointer worked spot on for all but one dime which was closest to the overhead wires, it was off by a few inches.
With all the above being said, I feel this is the best featured detector for the low cost.
My first experience with KellyCo, and they blew me away with all the specials. You won't go wrong using KellyCo or Amazon. I plan for this to be my last detector purchase and I could not be happier. No cons from me, totally happy with the Treasure Commander TC3X and the cammo scheme add's a nice touch.
Don't be fooled by the forums with their negative comments, this detector works as good as anything in this price range and from my small time with it, I'm sure it beats many costing much more.
