Hes Back… To Lay Down the Law!
Its Megacop vs. Megacorp when Detroits cyborg crime-fighter hits the streets to protect the innocent: this time from corporate greed!
When the ruthless corporation that runs Motor City begins kicking families out of their homes to clear space for a profitable new real estate project, RoboCop (Robert John Burke, 2 Guns, Limitless) joins with a renegade band of freedom fighters to save them. But RoboCop must face some deadly foes, including a lethally efficient android and a dangerous gang of thugs. RoboCops latest arsenal of high-tech weaponry only somewhat evens the battlefield, as this lone superhero takes on the entire army of corporate militia in an all-out war to control Detroit! This last film in the trilogy is directed by cult filmmaker Fred Dekker (The Monster Squad, Night of the Creeps).

C
I was glad to see Nancy Allen return for the third time but was really disturbed by her fate.
My preference for this film is based on the emotional edge that it has . . . more pathos than the others, particularly regarding the bright little girl and the gorgeous brunette who designs equipment in the film. She refuses to mess with Murphy's memories and continues to help him in the absence of his partner. I.e. , I was more emotionally invested in this film than in the first two.
There is also a frightening side to this film when we see a private corporation take over the city government and the police department. People don't have votes. They buy stock. Who is it that we know who stated that our Social Security system should be privatized? In the film, Robocop decides to help the disenfranchised people instead of the
corporation. Bring on Robocop!
The only message in this film is that corporations should not decide the fate of the people, society, or government. Nail on the head. People decide that. A lot of people getting it wrong in stating the Rehab people are the cops. They aren't. They are an OCP entity, think of it as the difference between Raccoon City Police, S.T.A.R.S., and Umbrella Corps Agents. They are the Umbrella Corps, while the Detroit Officers are the Raccoon City Police, with RoboCop being Alice. The one Vice President tries to say the Detroit Officers are owned by OCP, but that's only because OCP owns the whole city, which is why they are trying to boot people out in the first place. This is also why they bring in their own Nemesis and try to wipe out RoboCop.
A lot of people get confused in viewing this story through ideologue and I don't see why you can't see this movie at it's most basic level before delving into a deeper intellectual level. It's not anti-capitalist as much as it is anti-corporate oligarchy. A lot of people watch this and think we are there now. We aren't, but nice try. It's an action movie with good characters and explosions. I don't know why people expect\need more. That's the reason we get horrible remakes and reboots. Leave it as is. Enjoy as is. That's why movies from this time period were cool.
Bottom Text.
That said, I think this is the best of the RoboCop trilogy. Certainly better than RoboCop 2. But this doesn't have Peter Weller as RoboCop so some may disagree with me on the best of the 2 assessment.
Plenty of shoot-em-up, blow-it-up, set-it-on-fire action that we've come to expect from the Robo movies.
Fun and entertaining action film without profanity or nudity. The violence is more in the surreal category as apposed to the macabre blood-and-guts of many movies of this genre, so it's not gross, kids look away violence.
A family film given children are of appropriate ages (12-13+)
It was a perfect example of a high concept wrecked by low brow thinking.
A final point. Frank Miller who is very famous now wrote the comic books for both Robocop 2 and 3. He has claimed these movies do not represent his work well. I completely disagree, the movies follow the comic books very closely so he should take responsibility for the material.
I still rather watch this than the remake.

Warum trotzdem vier Sterne?
