About the Author

Jade C. Jamison was born and raised in Colorado and has decided she likes it enough to stay forever. Jade's day job is teaching Creative Writing, but teaching doesn't stop her from doing a little writing herself.

Unfortunately, there's no one genre that quite fits her writing. Her work has been labeled romance, erotica, suspense, and women's fiction, and the latter is probably the safest and closest description. But you'll see that her writing doesn't quite fit any of those genres.

You'll have to discover Jade's writing for yourself to decide if you like it.

Let me preface this review with the fact that I'm a HUGE rock star romance fan. I think I've read every rock star read out there. When Bullet by Jade C. Jamison was released back in February, I read it the same day. To me it felt like an honest portrait of what a rock star lifestyle is like. I really enjoyed all of Jade's characters--Valarie, Brad, Clay, and Jet. But there was something about Ethan Richards that reached me. He's a beautiful rock star, riddled with imperfections. Even though he did everything possible to make you hate him, I still love his character. So when I found out Jade was Rock Bottom, the squeal to Bullet, in Ethan's point of view, I was ecstatic! I'm so glad he gets to tell his story, dirty laundry and all.

Rock Bottom begins with Ethan Richards giving you a piece of his mind. He's not the guy you think he is. All you know about him is what you "see on TV and read on the Internet". You don't know the real him. He's made mistakes and he wants to right his wrongs as much as he can. He has a young son, Chris, whom he has very little contact with. His estranged wife wants a divorce and he refuses to give her one after learning she's shacked up with his band mate Brad. He has a raging case of drug and alcohol addiction. He's at a turning point in his life--continue on his self destructive path and end up dead or admit he's an addict and get help.

I was really impressed with Jenna McCormick's character. Jade researched her character very well. I got the authentic drug counselor feel from her. She showed depth, compassion, and experience. She was also a metal head! I love that she has tattoos and rocks out on her time off from work. She has demons of her own that allow her to relate to her patients.

Rock Bottom starts right where Bullet ends. Bullet led the reader on a roller coaster of a ride of love, drugs and alcohol abuse and the death of a girl's innocence by falling for the worst person for her to love. Bullet is the story of the love of Valerie Quinn and Ethan Richards and how Ethan's abuse of alcohol, drugs and unfaithfulness (due in part to the way he grew up in such an abusive family himself) ruins their chance at happiness together. The most important thing we learn is that Ethan's abuse as a child causes him to live in such a pit of depression, he can't even pull himself up out of that pit and it ruins his chance of living in the present with his wife and new child. He really tried but he could not be what his wife needed.
This book is spot on with what happens and we see a change in Ethan for the better once he starts going to counseling, after completely hitting his lowest point in life, and his love for a new woman, that really truly understands where Ethan is at; a sad but true fact being that although Valerie loved Ethan, she now realizes that no matter how much she loved and forgave him it was never enough as she had never experienced the things he did, what was happening to Ethan no one could understand not even himself without the help of his counselor and new love Jenna.
What happens now with this cast of characters you will have to read and see how it unfolds.
This book was every bit as good as the first one, and you will love the message of hope and redemption we see for one of the characters through the gift of unconditional love and understanding.
This book also continues the story of the other characters and their chance of a different life as well, this book is sad in some parts but full of hope as well.

I'm so glad Ethan was given this opportunity to allow us to get into his head and understand what he was going through in Bullet. Even though I knew Brad was the best choice for Val, I always knew that Ethan had redeeming qualities and just needed someone to help him get his act together. Plus, he had to reach that place where he wanted to make himself better. Jenna was perfect for Ethan. Being an addiction counselor allowed her to understand what was happening with Ethan and help him understand he could get better and be happy. You'll truly feel love and heartbreak for Ethan in this story. You'll want him to get better and you will understand how he desperately wants the pain to stop and the darkness he feels, and has felt, to go away. Jenna is a strong character, and the support she gives Ethan is priceless. He has to want to change, she's just there to make sure he has the support needed to make that happen and stay clean from the drugs and alcohol.

Ethan, Brad and Val finally come to a nice spot in the relationship. You'll love Ethan's son Chris and his love for his dad. Glad Ethan and Jenna get their happily ever after and glad the band will continue to make music. No cliffhanger. A wonderful story which leaves you smiling and warm knowing Ethan finally has his soul mate and is happy.

After reading Bullet earlier this year, I walked away with two things... 1. Val and Brad were made for each other and 2. Ethan Richards was nothing but a selfish, manipulating unloving, cheating bastard that ruined and hurt those that LOVED him. I had never disliked a male character as much as I did Ethan at the end of Bullet. That loathing for Ethan festered more and more each time I 're-read Bullet. Yes, I've read it 5 times, because I'm such a Jade C. Jamison fangirl! :-)

I am in awe of Jades ability to split Ethan open to her readers and dissect him from the bottom up emotionally to allow all of us "Ethan Haters" ( Ya you know who you are) to be able to connect with him, and discover his demons and why his inexcusable actions were there. After reading Ethan's POV about that terrible fight that turned physical between him and Val that night, I better understand why. I don't excuse the violence he took against her, but I forgive the man that did it.

Join Ethan on his discovery of himself, his demons and his triggers to self abusive behaviors that ruled him for so many years. Meet Jenna, his soul mate and rock and the one woman that makes him feel again.

10 out 5 ROCKIN Stars!!!
