Also, she had been in love with Lee for like 15 years and and suddenly she wants nothing to do with him. I get that he turned her down once, but her behavior really made no sense. Lee was scrumptious sounding. He was mature and responsible and honest. Indy was immature and LIED constantly. I don't get what about her was supposed to be appealing. Also, I found the sex scenes to be a little flat compared to her other books. I actually have decided not to read this series...at least not now. Which is a shame because I have read almost everything else she has written. I've completed the Colorado Mountains series, the Unfinished Heroes, I'm almost done with the Burg, I'm half way through Chaos, I've read the entire Dream Man Series and I've read almost all of her Stand Alones. ALL of those were amazing. But, this...not so much.
>I am an independent reviewer. This is the first book in the Rock Chick series and ends in an HEA.
>Indy and Ally were best friends since birth. Indy and Ally’s brother, Liam, have been friends since they were 5. The trouble is that Indy has been in love with Lee this whole time, even after Lee gave Indy the “I think of you as my sister” speech. Lee now owns a security business and finds himself protecting Indy from a seriously icky bad guy, amongst others. Indy owns a bookstore. Her barista accidentally involved Indy in his illegal dealings, causing her life to be in danger.
>Nothing is cooler than seeing the supremely alpha Lee go ballistic when Indy is threatened. This book moves from one romantic scene to a funny scene to an action scene and never ends. I had the best time reading this. If I was an author, this would be the book I would want to write. The secondary characters were well described, especially Eddie, Lee’s once best friend. Eddie is in love with Indy, which caused a rift between Eddie and Lee for the last 10 years.
>The trouble Ally and Indy get in is so fun to experience. I loved the glimpse into Lee’s Nightengale Securities team. Each man on the team is unique and deserving of a story of their own! I highly recommend this book. The story will suck you in and entertain from word one.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 5 stars.
This book turns out to have quite a lot going on with shootings, kidnapings, the mob and more. Yet it was oddly not suspenseful, which I really can't quite understand. I was never on the edge of my seat wondering where things were going to go. Like I said I found it to be a enjoyable book. That said, I didn't find it to be an amazing book that I just had to tell my friends about nor was it a bad book. It was just ok. One area I was actually a bit disappointed in was the lack of sex detail. I mean they had sex and lots of it but not much hot detail in the writing of it. No really hot and steamy scenes in my opinion.
So anyway this was my first KA book. While I was not overwhelmed by this particular book, I've heard great things about her writing so I doubt it will be my last.
This was silly, and fun. Nothing brilliant to see here, folks, but it's entertaining.
However, I got real tired of Lee, the main character's love interest, really quickly. So, you had a crush on this guy through your entire childhood and teen years. Well, now he's a controlling jackass. Stop living in the past, Indy!
I shall see how book 2 is.
Also, the entire book I keep getting book déjà vu. I have either read this before (which I do not recall doing) or it is eerily similar to something I've read before.
