I fell in love with Stella from word go. I love how music is so much a part of who she is, she wouldn't be her without it. That to calm herself she needs to strum the guitar, even if it's just a few chords. I liked that she became a rock chick but she didn't at all change who she is to be one. She didn't HAVE to tell them everything that was going on if she didn't want to.
I liked how Floyd opened her eyes that she was being selfish and ridiculous and made her understand that Mace had demons too. Maybe she should pay attention to that. It didn't take her long to recognize the demons and set out to work to help him get over them. I loved, absolutely loved that she put absolutely everything on the line to do just that.
I love Daisy. I love who she is. I even love her ridiculous outfits but the most I love who SHE is deep down. I don't care what her husband does. If she is needed, she is THERE! No ifs ands or buts! No questions (at that moment) asked.
I cried lots of tears through this one. Even for Mace's ass of a father. I loved the epilogue even though it's tough to keep everyone straight even if I did just read about them. I think so far, Stella and Mace is my favorite couple.
Oh! And I LOVED finding out who was selling stories to the newspapers. LOVED IT!!! Tee hee hee hee! Onto the next!
I'd like to know more about Jane, the storyteller and bookstore associate. Someone wonderful should notice her and bring her into the inner circle of the Rock Chicks.
What you need to know
This is book 6 of a series. Even though you could read it as a standalone that is just silly start with Rock Chick and if that is your cup of tea then you will love the rest of the ride.
I loved Mace and Stella’s story. They dated for about five months and then broke up. It becomes clear pretty early that had they actually got to know each other while dating/sleeping together they could have saved themselves some time but what fun would that be.
The other thing that is great about this specific book and why I probably got so drawn into it was the fact that it included everyone from the prior books in a bigger way as it seems someone has declared war on the Nightingale men and all their women are in trouble. Mix in some Tex, Daisy and Shirleen and you have what amounts to a bang up story.
I’ve been waiting to read about Mace’s history since we learned how he lost his sister back in book 2 and it did not disappoint. It was heart-wrenching and I cheered with Stella every time she dispensed one of his demons back to the grave.
Don’t read the Epilogue
I’m not sure why but this book has an epilogue set about 5 years in the future. That would be fine but there are 2 more books and couples in this series. If you read the epilogue then you know who they will end up with. It isn’t a huge spoiler but I wish I would have known that before I read the epilogue.
It was cute to learn about the new families and such but still I wish I would have waited so it didn’t seem like the series was already over.
