Ally Nightingale has secrets. Secrets she doesn't even share with the Rock Chicks. But two men know what she's up to. One has her back. The other has her heart, but he doesn't know it.
As Ally rewinds the last year of her life, she knows two things. One, she’s never going to get what every Rock Chick should have - her own Hot Bunch guy. And two, she’s a Nightingale through and through. She just isn’t sure what to do about that.
But as her secrets are revealed, the men in her life react. Darius Tucker, a lifelong friend, as usual takes her back. Ren Zano, the man she loves, isn’t quite so sure. The Rock Chicks, Hot Bunch, and the entire gang at Fortnum’s weigh in, and a Rock Chick Revolution starts brewing. It’s up to Ally to control it and prove what she knows down to her bones.
She’s a Rock Chick, she deserves her hot guy and she’s going to keep the one she wants.… Because she’s a Nightingale.

"And last, I have to share with my readers that this book was the most difficult book I've ever written. This is the first series where I let my Rock Chick Flag fly and decided to write what I wanted, to hell with the 'rules'. I started this series because I was living in England and very homesick for Denver, pouring out these words as a love letter to that city, my country, and the people I left in them. I shared with my readers many characters who are loosely (and not-so-loosely) based on people I love, including Tex, Tod, Stevie, Ally, Annette, Nick, Reba, and Herb and Trish. I also shared many good times (and bad) from my own life."
This goes on, and I must tell you that I cried throughout all Kristen Ashley wrote here. One thing that stands out for me about this author is the fact that what she writes - as herself - prior to the book starting, is what I get in her stories. Love, depth, laughter, sadness, and honest to goodness down to earth reality. Most situations are relatable, and real.
Where to start. This whole series has been action packed. This last book? Crazy! In a good way of course. This is finally Ally's story. Ally who was the only one who practically swore that what happened to all the other Rock Chicks, would not happen to her. Pffft. Who was she kidding? Certainly not me. You know, I've always liked Ally. I've liked every single one of them, but we really get to know Ally in this book. She's Hank's and Lee's sister, and besides working at Brothers - where she eventually got 'fired' from and not for anything illegal either - she helps out at Fortnum's, the bookstore Indy owns. A lot of this series takes place there. I've got amazing mental pictures of what this place looks like, and they are wonderful. What she's always wanted to be, what's in her blood - she is a Nightingale - is to do exactly what Lee does. She wants to be a PI. Hank, however is a cop, as was their dad. She's good at what she does, it's her life, it's what she loves and she's finally found her calling. This doesn't bode well with the siblings, or her parents. She's a girl. She should be doing girly things. This pisses her off! She has Darius in her corner, and for those who haven't read this series, Darius is Shirleen's nephew - a hot black dude who along with Shirleen a couple of books back, dealt in drugs. They've left that life behind and Darius works for Lee now, as does Shirleen who absolutely hates filing, except the kind one does with one's nails. She's a hoot. Darius' background is darker than I've mentioned here. However, Lee, Eddie and Darius are 'brothers', as is Darius to Ally. They'd do anything for each other.
Trekking back, something-something has been going on between Ally and Ren who we met a couple of books back. Now, Ren is Sicilian. Sicilian's are known to be mafia orientated. Vito, his uncle, who we also met in previous books, is on the truly illegal side. You gotta love him, though. Ren, however, is on the clean side as he wanted no part of his uncle's business, although he's done some things he's not proud of. There's a further story here where Ren is prepared to be excommunicated due to his uncle's stubbornness. Now, without giving it away... Ally presumed something here, which Ren was shocked about. These two have been in a 'friends with benefits' relationship for the best part of year - exactly the way Ally liked it. She's tough as nails, and gets things done. Ren sees right past all that, and tells her she's deep and feels deep. She all in denial over this, but eventually relents. It gets to a point where they both agree there's more to their relationship than sexual get-togethers, but at one point Ren has the audacity to tell Ally that what he wants is a wife who will bear his children and become a stay-at-home mom. Wowza. He walked right into that one! Suffice it to say, by the end of the book, it's fabulosity. He gets her, she gets him and it's pure bliss. I've highlighted too many things I'd love to quote, but if I do, this will most definitely be the longest post and review in the history of posts and reviews! So, I'll pick (sadly) only a few.
"You've got your way, the way you are and the way you are with the ones you care about. And that tells me, a man gets in there, you give that to him, the children you give him, that man will be all kinds of lucky. And I've decided we're gonna see if that man is me."
This after Ren realises that Ally won't be Ally if she gives up who she is, and what she wants to do.
"You want this. And what you want to do means so much to you that you would let me be who I am, look into accepting my faith, love me that much, but walk away. Then you take that hurt so deep, you're on autopilot, lettin' out the woman inside you hold close and only dole out occasionally, but give to me. And you do s*** like kiss Smithie to say hello when you never would do that s***. It means that much, then you can have it. And me. I'll worry, but I'll learn to trust you."
Love this. Ren to Ally.
"So, I want a stay-at-home mom and you give me a badass PI. You accepted a wiseguy and got whatever I am. We're a ***** pair."
This made me cry, but I can't explain why without giving it away. I believe this, though.
"Because, no matter how old we get, we always need to believe in fairytales." -Jane
Okay, now I'm hoping I truly give nothing away with this one, but again, I freaking bawled my eyes out!! Kristen Ashley is a genius to have thought of this particular angle. I laughed my head off at the beginning, then tried to guess who it could possibly be, and got it right! Loved it so much, I have no words.
"I scanned the cover and saw on the bottom, stuck to the side, was a sticky note. On it was an arrow pointing to the name, "Kristen Ashley" that said under it, New York Times Bestselling Author. And next to that was written: See? Told you. Fairytales come true."
I could go on...
Within the world surrounding Ren and Ally, there's so much going on I couldn't possibly tell you all of it. There's Darius' story being played out; Rosie is back after Ally's apartment blew up; the Hot Bunch slowly but surely see what a kick-arse Ally is; Ally working cases between everything else; marriages going on all around them; so many kids - I lost track, but thought it was totally cool. A kidnapping takes place, but then it wouldn't be a Rock Chick book without something like this happening. I loved that we're taken six years forward towards the end of the book, and Roam and Sniff are now in their early twenties. Love these kids! Love Shirleen for taking them in.
Smithie's role in this book is bigger. Ally's stripping - yes, a PI's gotta do what she's gotta do - was so well described, I saw her show in my head. It rocked. Ally and Lottie's duo? I have to say it - it rocked!! Ren's take on Ally's stripping? Not what I expected, but I sure as hell could freaking hug the crap out of him for it, though. Lee and Hank's eventual support of their sister? Aces. The parents, the family, the friends (I'm all emotional thinking about the fabulousness that this series is), was beyond superb. The bonds all these people have... precious. HEA's? For everyone! Just the way it should be. As far as Ren is concerned, and as far as this book is concerned... Ren is all that, right along with Vance and Hector, but this book right here? My absolute favourite (and you all know I loved every single one) of the whole series. It's full of heart. I swear, Rock Chick Revolution is riddled with magic. I going to use Ally's favourite word. People... it was RIGHTEOUS! I believe it, because I was hypnotised by it, it gripped me from the get-go and never let me go until I was done with it. Kristen Ashley, as I quoted above, mentioned that this was the hardest book she's written, but I can guarantee - not only to you - but to the author herself, it was epic! I do believe I'm fan-girling here. I love this author for holding open her door, and taking me along for the ride, because I came out on the other side richer for reading this series. I also feel somewhat privileged. I swear, if genies truly existed and I was granted three wishes, meeting Kristen Ashley would be one of them. To pour so much (as some authors do) of her life, friends and situations (again, good and bad) into her characters and make me a believer, has been the best roller-coaster ride I've been on. I've finally got no more words.
Thank you, Kristen Ashley, for putting your heart and soul into this series. I count myself one of the lucky ones to have read it. I look forward to all your others. And, sickeningly I cannot but repeat myself one last time. I still want to move to Denver!
I'm so going to miss this gang! Rock Chick Revolution was one of my favourite books this year. I nearly forgot to add this. The author has previously said that, and I do agree: Bad people do good things, and good people do bad things. In my book, ALMOST everyone deserves a second chance where bad choices are made, bar some things, of course.
PS: Asterisks replace profanity as per Amazon's rules.
Court: I cannot even begin to put into words how perfect the technically "series finale" is for Rock Chick through Rock Chick Revolution...but we will try! I was looking through some stuff and I saw that Shelley got me started on my Rock Chick journey on or about April 1st of this year. I think it is the fastest I have ever blown through one author's books...ever. AKA It didn't take long to read Rock Chick (while saving a couple because I didn't want to be 'done' ya know) then moving through the Dream Man series, and then the Chaos series (Rock Chick characters appear in those, FYI) . She interweaves the lives of these people to where they truly, genuinely feel like they are your friends and family and makes Denver a huge character in the book to the point that we are begging our husbands to let us all move there and start our own Rock Chick family. Shee-it, it would be epic.
Shel: And epic it was, Courtney. I was so stoked to see that the Kindle fairy had delivered the book over night on Monday night that I was nervously tapping my fingers to clear out of work and get to reading. As Courtney tweeted her eagerness to start I was madly picking up my daughters, plying them with snacks and barricading myself in my hiding spot to get down the business of reading. I savored every word and am still in my Rock Chick haze.
Court: Rock Chick Revolution though is Ally Nightingale's story. Ally has been an amazing best friend through all of the other Rock Chick Ride's that we have been on, but we started to wonder if she would get her happily ever after. She never had her thing that she loved to do, or a love like the other Rock Chicks and her parents where the guy is just it. Enter Ren Zano, who we have met before in other series as well.
Shel: Ren. Wow. He was hot in Ava's story but Kristen Ashley held nothing back with him and Ally in RC Revolution. Ren was just perfect with Ally. He knew when to give and when to push; he could read her so well. And just as good as Ren was with Ally, Ally was with Ren. She knew her man and after she quit denying herself and him their shit got real...as in real good.
Court: Ren made me cry but even more than all of their relationships we get a little taste of wisdom from all of our favorite characters...and do you know how often I happy and sad cried in the last two days? A lot. Tex would be dubbing me Loopy-Loo instead of Jet, because the water works just wouldn't quit. Darius, Duke, Lee, and Hank were among many of my favorite scene stealers as they always are. It's just something about being a Hot Bunch Bad Ass I guess that when they speak, you shut up and listen. No words are wasted with those guys, but they love just as fiercely and the love for this girl who is their sister is just as powerful and beautiful as it is for their chosen Rock Chick.
Shel: This was like a reunion for me. The entire gang got these perfect little spotlights of time to remind me of exactly why I loved them. Tex and Duke and Darius and Smithie...even Roam and Sniff..and of course the Rock Chicks and their Hot Bunch were all present in this final episode (or what I consider a love note from Kristen to her characters) to see Ally not only get her man but find her niche in the bad ass world she inhabited.
Court: One of my top 5 favorite parts, because there are seriously so freaking many, is Ally's scene with Jane. Jane is a Fortnum's staple just like everyone else, but she never gets in there with the drama even though she always witnesses it. Her words about the life of a writer, and sharing things with people that make them feel and help them through a time of need were seriously moving. I cried at this, because I just cry okay, but also because Kristen Ashley just get us as readers. *wipes tear*
Shel: I couldn't help but think of Jane's observations as Kristen's observations. I imagined her lovingly living this ride with her characters and I could feel the care and love she breathed into every word and action of these characters (or as I like to think of them...my friends). I really have too many favorite scenes--like the whole entire book is my favorite--but there was a fantastic scene with Duke, a heartwrenching one with Smithie, and Shirleen cracked my ass up more times than I'd like to count. Oh! And the epilogue was superb!!
Court: Dang right it makes us laugh out loud. And it will forever have it's place in my heart and my life as I will re-read it again and again. I honestly wish I had the time right now to do a full eight book read through...*eyes the schedule*.... :)
Shel: These novels will always reside in special place in my heart. They are my chicken noodle soup or my warm chocolate chip cookie when I need to go that place where I feel safe and warm and happy and loved. I cannot wait to take the Rock Chick ride again--whether it be through rereading this series or reading about them as they pop up in future stories, I'll always be up for the ride.

Kirsten Ashley really needs to remember Barbara Cartland, who's characters were always the same, just different settings, it was considered a joke. As the reader I appreciate it, especially if I am buying a series, the characters are written with different personalities. In this series the way they talk is always the same, as if they are same people but in different stories, which makes it really difficult remembering the different character's names as they all run into each other. The relationships get really monotonous and you loose interest, I only care about the drama then. All authors have a signature to the way they write, a good writer makes sure it's not too obvious, in this case it is very obvious and you've read one book you're read them all.

I have read all the Rock Chick series and yes, after a while it becomes a bit samey, but you forgive or look past that because the writing is good, the story moves quickly and you run a whole gamut of emotions in one sitting.
Right, now that's done......GOOD GOD THIS WAS DREADFUL!!!!
I have read over 500 books on kindle this last year and only 2 were a DNF, but this was almost the 3rd.
Kristen has attempted to make this a stand alone book, despite it being a part of a series. She has opted to go for the new reader and I get why she'd do that, but in doing so, has written a book that explains the back story of every character ever mentioned in the entire series.
At 29% in, very little had happened in the actual story but I'd read a recap of almost everyone in the previous series, which was completely unnecessary. Also, she brought back as cameo's everyone she's ever mentioned too, which she then gave a bit of back story too.
Honestly, the book could've been a third shorter and would've been better for it.
The writing was lacklustre in parts and didn't have her unusual flowing style. I suspect it was because she stopped the action to reintroduce all these past characters. When she got down to telling the story of Ren & Ally it was good, but not to her highest standards we've come to expect and for that the book would've gotten 3 stars BUT introducing the 'Jane is writing the published books' idea and then mentioning her own name as the author?!? I just couldn't get my head around it at all, it was just so lame.
Jumping The Shark sprang to mind and my heart sank.....So it gets 2 stars :(
Lastly, she tells us at the end that we'll hear about Stella and Mace in LA.......PLEASE DON'T!!
This series is soooo done for me. You have lots of books left in the other series you have running Kristen, which I can't wait to read. Please, it's been great but let this one be finished now.

This story starts with Ally and Ren having been in a somewhat secretive relationship for a year. Ally wouldn't call it a relationship, she prefers the term 'f buddys'. Ren however tends to disagree. Ally has a secret. The first night she slept with Ren she woke up to him holding her and calling her Ava. She left without telling him and he chased after her but at no point did she tell him what she had heard. I found this a bit unbelievable that for a whole year she would sleep with Ren believing him to be in love with Ava.
For the first time in a KA novel, I actually found myself bored. The first 20 odd percent of this book was hardgoing as it goes back in time to what happened with the other Rock Chicks. To spoil it even more for me Ren and Ally finally have the talk about his supposed love for Ava and he puts her straight and they confess their love for one another and are happy. I'm not used to this part so early in a KA novel!
A lot of the book is about Ally wanting to become a Private Investigator and her subsequent cases which bored me. Another odd part was when KA references herself, I wasn't sure about that.
Overall, I only really liked the one on one parts between Ren and Ally. Although Ren wasn't as alpha male as some of the 'hot bunch', he was more of a sweetened version of an alpha and Ally was that kick ass sort of heroine KA wrote in 'Creed' that I find I don't like. I didn't like the way Ally kept saying 'dude'.
This book was on a par for me with 'Creed' and as with that book, I have to give this the same star rating of 3 which is disappointing as I do love KA. I think I should have stuck with my initial decision not to read this series as it never really appealed to me but that's not to say other people won't like it and in that respect, I would say that this book is really only for a die hard Rock Chick fan.

This being Ally' s and Ren story it certainly is a great ride.
When this story starts and you read about a little adventure that Ally took, then it's rock chick rewind and you read from when Ren and Ally first met (during Ava' s troubles) and you find after the fight Ren and Luke have, Ally takes Ren for a drink and that was how they started out. It clashes with Stella and Sadie' s story but only a bit so your not reading some parts twice.
Ally wanting to be a P.I. and working to get that was really interesting and when her brothers, parents and Ren tell her not to do it, she does it anyway, but what she doesn't do is (What I wanted to do) is argue, scream and shout and tell them all to f*** off. She handles them with respect, she explains her pov and she makes sure she is heard.
Although I was mad at Lee and Hank (Lee is my hut bunch guy) they do listen to her and like all big brothers they back her play and support her. When Ally does have a case, the case needs more people and more experienced men so she goes to Lee, and Lee being Lee he has her back. Ally has her drama with a storker which Lee, of course will protect her as well as her apartment blowing up.
The ending is great a few years later you find out who's had kids and married and living life. It's great.
There is a part in the book were everyone finds out Jane is the one who wrote the 'Rock Chick' books. Ally and Indie see the book in a window. The author of the book is 'Kristen Ashley'
I was surprised that KA put her own name in the book. I understand why she put her own name to it, but I'm not sure I liked it. The reason is, while reading the Rock Chick book, I was in a fantasy and when KA put her own name to it, it felt like taking that fantasy away. Reality meeting fantasy and it took me awhile to get back into the fantasy of the Rock Chicks.
That was my only negative I have about the book.
Rock On Rock Chicks. I would like to read about Mace and his P.I. agency in L.A. there seems there could be more Rock Chicks and more mayhem.

This was Ally' s story. She's been main character from the start and we know there was something happening between her and the lovely badass Ren and their romance didn't disappoint. The narrative goes back a whole year from the prologue so we get their first sex scene immediately then the build up to that later so it was a bit of a shame we missed some of the detail of their 'firsts' together, it did succeed in tying the narrative into what happened at the end of Breathe and the previous Rock Chick stories very well.
There's a few sub plots creating a sense of peril and giving Lee's chaps the chance to show off their skills, but Ally' s character was fantastic in this too. For once the female lead isn't flouncing off and putting herself in silly dangerous situations, but instead she's thinking like one of the guys.
The only thing that really jarred with me was the whole sub plot around the books and 'Kristen Ashley' being a character writing the books about her friends, the Rock Chicks (under a pseudonym). For me, that kind of broke the fourth wall and pulled me out of the story. I think the story didn't need it, but just my opinion.
That aside, this was an excellent conclusion to the series with all of the hot bits, funny bits and squishy belly bits you get from a KA.
Fab series. Recommended.
