About the Author
Native Washingtonian David Swerdloff and his wife Lorraine Swerdloff noticed something visiting National Parks around the country. When they explained they lived in DC next door to a National Park, even most of the rangers were stumped: which park could that be? So they decided to spread the word about Rock Creek Park — celebrating its 1,700 acres as a haven for hikers and history buffs, birders and bicyclists...and for its significance as a pioneering urban park. David’s career involved painting word pictures for the Voice of America and major DC radio stations. Lorraine told stories using images and design as a graphic artist and national magazine editor. From the windows of their home, they see deer, foxes, owls and many other examples of the Park’s wildlife. Previously, they told the tale of three centuries of DC history in and around their neighborhood in their book, Crestwood: 300 Acres, 300 Years.
