This is my first time reading this author and I was very pleasantly surprised. First, thank you, Alyson Hale, for writing a cheating-free book. I admire you for that and I'm grateful. That is a tough thing to do when you're writing about man-whore rock stars...until they meet 'the one.'
This is the beginning of the 'Rock Her' series. Our hero is Jace, the gorgeous, cocky, arrogant ex-man-whore, lead singer for his band. He has little self-worth left and he is used to women falling at his feet. But, he realizes that isn't enough for him any longer. There is something missing on the inside, a hole if you will and he has no clue how to fill it.
His band manager, Rick, has asked a favor. He is divorced and has been estranged from his family for ten years. Jace is unaware that he had mistreated his wife and children terribly and they are eternally scarred by his abandonment, abuse and addiction. He wanted to go live his own rock star dream and abandoned the family that loved him. Now he decides he wants them back after no contact for ten years, since the day he walked out the door. He wants to use Jace to gain access by having Jace 'accidentally' meet his daughter and lead her on enough to get her to travel the tour with him. This is supposed to give the Rick a chance to win them back.
When Jace meets the curvy Irish beauty, Kyri-daughter of Rick, it smacks him up side the head and he begins to understand that there really the love at first sight thing just may be true after all.
But, what happens when the secret plan is revealed to Kyri before Jace can come clean and shatters her heart? So you may question why I didn't rate it higher since I loved this book. I didn't consider this erotica but there was some language that bothered me. It was a bit heavy on talk of Jace's gargantuan 'member'...even referenced it as a third leg and the inability for a condom to cover it all. I also have trouble with the P word when describing a certain part of a woman's anatomy. He also referred to Kyri as his whore. Now I know nothing bad or negative was meant at all. It was just what you would expect from a rockstar's mouth and his world but I can't help that it bothered me. I am older and when a woman is referenced this way I immediately think disrespectful. Now that I know what to expect it won't trouble me as much in the future books that I will definitely read. So this is more me than the book but I can't pretend it didn't trouble me.
I definitely recommend this book. Each book in this series features a band member with no cheating involved.

I have mixed feelings about this one - I liked it but I didn't love it... for me it was just ok.
What I did enjoy a lot was the actual interactions in the story between the main characters Jace and Kyri. He saw her and decided she was it for him and set about to make it so. Whatever he had to do to convince her - despite her misgivings. And of course she had a LOT with him being a rock star and her just a waitress. He had to work hard to convince her of his real feelings. I enjoyed these parts of the story when it was just the two of them. Also very sweet HEA epilogue! And NO cheating!
I think what put me off was the side story - Kyri's estranged father being the band's manager and how he was trying to sort of worm his way back into his ex-wife and daughters lives after a LONG absence. I felt that he was a creepy, manipulative presence in the story and we never really got a full explanation of what happened. Why exactly he left and why Kyri and her mom held such bad feelings toward him. Yet his being there and what he was trying to do was thrown up a lot as a huge barrier to their romance.
By the end of the book I was left feeling like that part of the story was never really resolved and that something was still missing. However we are told that they were making progress to work through their issues...
Color me confused! Perhaps more will be explained in the next books...?
Anyway, would still recommend as a good rock star romance if that is something you enjoy!
I enjoyed reading Rock Her Hard by Alyson Hale. The author, Alyson Hale brought her story alive. This was a great short read. I have read many alpha-male musician romance books, but Alyson Hale took it to another level. She filled the pages with drama and sex that left me feeling very satisfied as a reader. Rock Her Hard had a thorough story line and easy captured me to read through and wanting more which is awesome since this is just the beginning and there will be further installments to this Rock Her series.
Rock Her Hard was filled with page turning drama. The characters were very likable and even relatable. Kyri is not the standard small framed vixen. She has plenty of curves, self doubt and family drama that makes her feel like a friend or even one self. I related to her in more ways than one. As I read on, I kept routing for her to have a happy ending - to mend her heart. Jace was the ultimate fantasy, alpha male. Need I say more.... just HOT!!!
I would definitely recommend Rock Her Hard by Alyson Hale to fellow readers. This was the first book I have read by her, but surely will not be my last. She has talent with her writing and I look forward to reading more of her work including the continuation of this new series.
