Format: Vinyl
This is an album any fan of Johnny Cash and Jeannie C.Riley, will treasure. It was published by The Lolngines Symphonette Society.I can't tell you the year as there is no mention of it on the album cover nor the record itself. My guess would be about 1969 or so.The jacket states it was produced in "Living Sound" and electronically altered to simulate stereo. The notes on the back of the cover state that "it is truly a collector's album- a panaroma of 10 outstanding songs that will live forever".It is also claimed that "the most advanced and modern recording techniques in the world are responsible for bringing out the full body of every note with unsurpassed clarity and tone".You will experience what happens when technical know-how and musical brilliance come alive at the same time".The album lives up to these claims, and the sound is excellent .
As to the songs.Side 12 is all by Johnny Cash and starts off with" Rock Island Line" and "Home Of The Blues".Then there are three songs that are excellent and must be some of Cash's lesser known;and I have to admit I can't ever recall hearing them."Two-Timin' Woman","I Just Thought You'd Like To Know",and" Mean Eyed Cat".
Sdse 2 is all by Jeannie C.Reily.Surprisingly it doesn't start off with "Harper Valley PTA",probably her best known song. The first song,"The Little Town Square" and the second song,"Satan Place"will certainly remind you of "Harper Valley" ,even the music of "Satan Place" is very similar while the lyrics are similar but different. Then there are three more real good songs ,"Box of Memories","Yearbooks and Yesterdays",and "What Was Her Name";again excellent songs ,but ones I can't recall ever hearing.
I you are a fan of either Cash or Riley,I am sure ,like me,you'll find this album a real treasure. Checking the Discography of Cash and Riley ,I can't find this album, nor most of the songs except "Rock Island Line and "Home of the Blues".
