About the Author

Dianna Hutts Aston is the author of many acclaimed picture books for children. She also manages a non-profit foundation, The Oz Project, and has established an annual Teen Writer's Workshop, both of which serve underprivileged Mexican teens. She lives in Mexico.

Sylvia Long is the illustrator of many award-winning books for children, including the classics Hush Little Baby and Sylvia Long's Mother Goose. Her detailed paintings are inspired by her love of nature. She lives in Scottsdale, Arizona.

When we received our first as a gift (A Butterfly Is Patient), I assumed it had cost twice as much. It’s just a really nice book series. I plan to buy most of them for my daughter. She’s 3.5 and has already learned to identify multiple species of butterflies and types of rocks, just from reading these books at bedtime.

I love nature in all it forms. Back in childhood one of my favorite books to look at was an encyclopaedia on rocks. If I would have had this book - I would have loved it even more. I might finally learn the names of the rocks. Do I need to give it to children? Great nature books, I got the whole set! They are so beautiful and interesting too.
