My daughter loves this whole series! Beautiful illustrations, engaging information... whimsical prose. And they’re shockingly affordable. When we received our first as a gift (A Butterfly Is Patient), I assumed it had cost twice as much. It’s just a really nice book series. I plan to buy most of them for my daughter. She’s 3.5 and has already learned to identify multiple species of butterflies and types of rocks, just from reading these books at bedtime.

Such beautiful images and a lot of great information without feeling overwhelming! I’ve even bought this a second time as a gift for friends’ babies who also love the outdoors. Wonderful book, and can’t beat the Amazon day deal price!

This is a lovely book--the illustrations are just amazing. I used it to talk about rocks and geology with my Pre-K science class. I particularly appreciated the two layers of text. The simple large words were perfect for my Pre-K class, and the detailed smaller descriptions were helpful context for me (or for hypothetical older students). Students were really engaged in the lesson.

Great illustrations and accurate information, although every other page has a different font and the children struggled with reading the parts of the book that were in cursive.

I love nature in all it forms. Back in childhood one of my favorite books to look at was an encyclopaedia on rocks. If I would have had this book - I would have loved it even more. I might finally learn the names of the rocks. Do I need to give it to children? Great nature books, I got the whole set! They are so beautiful and interesting too.

This series is amazing. The books are high quality and provide information geared to children on the various topics featured in the books. The artwork in these books is detailed, beautiful and captivating for children and adults alike. When this series was used in our kindergarten class, the children enjoyed them very much and they led to different inquiries and ‘research’ projects. Beautifully written and illustrated!
