This book was spectacularly well-researched. I learned more from reading it--and came away with more amusing anecdotes to tell my friends-- than I have from my eleven years of subscribing to Rolling Stone. The author really knows what he's talking about.

Excellent. I love this book. Has all the bands I know of (I am 55 yrs. old) and how they got their names. A lot o fun to see how these bands got their names. Also is up to date on the newer bands, which my son looks up.

This book promises just what it says, it's the definitions of how all the famous rock bands got their names and why. VERY addictive! Loads of fun! Finally, I know why "Bread" decided on that stupid stupid name, and why The Ramones' name means so much to them. This book has it ALL.

This is a fun book, no doubt. But the author sometimes goes on page after page on one name, a major waste of space. Additionally, there are a lot of entries of groups I've never heard of and I'm sure no one has!

The author could have considered using a source such as "JOEL WHITBURN'S TOP POP Singles 1955-1993" (my copy) to tell us about more of the groups that affected us instead of wasting space on unknowns.
