“The Rock Star in Seat 3A is funny and irreverent, a brash and appealing account of a long-devoted fan-girl and how she copes with her rock idol fantasy come true.” (USA Today)
Fantasy, fiction and the sex appeal of rock god Finn Schiller are the three key ingredients in the cocktail recipe for this summer’s must-read beach book: THE ROCK STAR IN SEAT 3A. (Bookreporter.com)
From the Back Cover
Hazel's turning thirty and she has everything she's ever wanted: a kickass job, a dream apartment in New York City, and the perfect boyfriend—who's just days away from proposing. She should be happy . . . so why doesn't she feel ready to settle down?
The morning after her birthday, Hazel boards a flight to L.A. only to get the surprise of her life: she's sitting next to her all-time biggest celebrity crush, rock star Finn Schiller! Only the night before, Hazel had confessed her infatuation with the gorgeous musician, and her boyfriend joked that she had a free pass if she ever met him. Even more unbelievable is that during the flight they genuinely connect.
What started as a far-fetched fantasy quickly becomes a real attraction, and after a dream date and taste of the rock-star life with Finn in L.A., Hazel is forced to reevaluate everything. Hazel couldn't forgive herself if she just walked away from her wildest dream come true. But is her wildest dream the stuff that happiness is made of?

In books like this (which always have pretty much the same plot point - who will the heroine end up with?) - it's really about the characters and setting. Hazel is well-drawn, but both Wylie (her boyfriend) and Finn (the rock star) are pretty thin. The book also felt abrupt in parts, particularly when she makes her big decision about who to be with. But overall, the rock-star world was fun, and it delivered what it set out to do.
This was so incredibly painful to read though. The language was so over the top and ridiculous and CONSTANT. If I had to read the word Shizzle one more time, I would have thrown this awful book off a roof. I get it here and there, but it was just the entire book. For a supposed woman in her 30s.
It was so bad. So, so bad.
