Not quite as cliche as the maid in the first book, Amber is Luke's cousin, and PA for the band (and the story about there became an opening for a PA is golden - I laughed so hard I believe there were a few tears running down my face. Having spent most of my life around bands I can so easily picture the whole scenario.) Though she finds blonde guitarist Jake rather attractive if she is honest with herself, she also finds him an overbearing wanker. Stuck together at Luke's house while everyone else is on holiday for several weeks, can they find that perhaps there is more to each other than their initial imoressions have lead them to believe?
Ms. Ashton is certainly growing as a writer in this one. Don't get me wrong, i thoroughly enjoyed Kickers, but the humor is a bit more prominemt and fleshed out (the dog's stomach distress was brilliantly hysterical) and the emotions seem a bit deeper too. Amber's backstory is particularly touching. Both certainly make mistakes along the way, but the characters feelings and reasons for acting as they do are much easier to understand and sympathize with. Overall, a fun, rather quick read.
As with the first book in the series, if you are looking for hardcore erotica, this is not the book you are looking for (though i do think the sexy moments were expounded on a bit more in this one than in the first.) Enough to recommend for mature audiences only, but not enough to give, say, an NC-17-esque rating.
These are available as a two-pack for a discount, I certainly say pick them up that way when you want the truly romantic rockstar romance experience. I read them both in less than day, but did really enjoy them and wouldn't hesitate to pick up another in the series should one ever come out.
