Here are the deets.... Jack and Marissa story is not your typical love story. It is maybe, kinda a typical rockstar story with a "twist". Marissa and her bestie Olivia head out to meet some guys (hopefully band members on Olivia's part) and see if they can get into some trouble. Marissa had just gotta out of a long term relationship where she had been cheated on. She happens to meet the lead singer of a heavy metal band and INSTANT LUST between them ended up in more than a one night stand. Only thing is she knew it but never told HIM.
Tristan needs surgery on his legs and Marissa finally breaks down and calls Jack. Only Jack doesn't believe that he has a son. What happens in the rest of the book is push and pull, give and take, love and hate. But it all comes back to do you believe in Lust at first sight or could it be Love at First Sight. Such a Great Read!!
She fights it but they fall in love and try to become a family in his whirl wind rock n roll life style.
A heart warming and sexy series you should read.
That all being said, I generally am not a fan of rewrites, and can't say I was overly excited when I first found out she was rewriting the first two. I stand corrected!! The first person view works so much better here, and she does an equally great job of writing both Jack and Marissa in first person POV. The addition of extra smut is a welcome addition as well. Few authors do this as well as Ms. Gillis, and the additions not only live up to the high bar she had already set in this area but probably set it a couple of notches higher.
Obviously this makes these for adult reading only, and if you are offended by graphic sex scenes you will want to look elsewhere. If you enjoy that kind of thing but often find yourself disappointed in the way they are written, jump right in! One of the most fabulous bonuses with this author is the way she winds an enthralling story around those scenes. That seems to be a very illusive standard for most authors to achieve, but she gets straight A's for this across her entire catalog.
Several reviews that I have read have complained about the way Marissa handles her situation and about the communication issues they both have. To me, these things make the story very real. People do stupid things in relationships, and even the most stable people act out of character when love and passion are involved. Musicians are a different breed - and they tend to express themselves better through their music than their words and actions. When they find fame for their art, any woman can become insecure. Yes, there are things Marissa does that seem stupid from our outside view, but they are very human. Same can be said for Jack, but his lifestyle, and the lifestyle he was raised in are not the same as, say, the son of a teacher and a businessman in the midwest. Every relationship has communication issues at some point. Theirs may seem exaggerated, but so are their lifestyles. Lisa does a very realistic job of portraying all of this. For those who complained about not seeing enough of the rockstar lifestyle, keep reading the series. The next book will give you a big fix of that.
I can't say enough good things about this book or this author. I will continue to devour anything she decides to publish.
