While I’m a big fan of Terri Anne Browning and her Rocker series, I’m not a big fan of Second Chance Decades Later romance. So, the 3 star rating has more to do with my personal tastes as a reader than anything else.
This book was well-written and anyone who likes very emotional second chance romance will love this book, so I recommend it for those readers.

In this book, the separation of the hero and heroine lasted 17 years and it felt really unnecessary. I realize that the timeline had to work out that way for Zander to get his own book and it to be with a heroine who was his first love.
And in all the flashbacks showing them as teenagers together, they were really sweet. I felt their love for each other.

Then Zander just sort of decided he wasn’t good enough for her and gave up on their love. He did it coldly while feeling sorry for himself more than he felt sorry for her.

Years pass and they actually both are involved in the music world. In fact, she does PR for her famous country musician brother and other musicians. So for a lot of years she could have gotten a hold of him and her big excuse for not doing so was kind of lame.
Don’t misunderstand me with this review. I love this author and her books, but I really wasn’t buying all the excuses Zander and Annabelle had for the 17 years apart.

As for their reconciliation, I think it was too easy. 17 years of hurt built up would be something volatile in the heroine. She loved him that entire time and was all alone except for a few family members.
My only excuse for Zander was that they were young and hadn’t been an official couple for very long when he left her in the dust.

I have loved every single one of Terri Anne Browning's Rockers. But this book, this one was different than all the others. I adored it.

Seventeen. Seventeen years when she fell in love with the boy next door. Seventeen years old when she let him go so he could chase his dreams. Seventeen years old when she found out she was pregnant. Seventeen years later, they meet again. So much time past, so much time lost, so many mistakes, so much pain between them. But it's still there, that love between them. Can these two lost, lonely and incomplete souls heal each other and find their way back to the love they once shared?

This book was raw with emotion that we haven't previously seen from the talented Terri Anne Browning but surely cements her status as an author with an amazing range of storytelling abilities. I felt everything throughout this entire book. Every single emotion on every single page, and believe me when I tell you that they are there on each and every page of this book.

Admittedly, I spent most of this book in heart-wrenching pain, a bit teary eyed or with a lump in my throat. And angry, I was so angry at Z, that is until I felt his pain and tasted his regret. It was stunning the way that Terri Anne was able to so accurately convey these feelings so that the reader experienced them right along with the characters. There was one point where I was gasping with the characters, and I definitely felt my stomach lurching when Z did. That right there - the ability to draw those reactions from her readers, ones that so closely mirror what her characters are feeling - is the mark of an author with a true gift. Congratulations, Terri Anne. This book is a smashing success.

Holy W.O.W. This book was an emotional roller-coaster; filled with devastating secrets, a strong heroine, a Hero who you'll want to smack upside the head a few times & yes, some warm fuzzies. It was tough to read about the heartbreak but it ended up being a beautiful second chance romance.

Oh, Annabelle... I had a MAJOR case of the feels for this heroine. She experienced so many heart-wrenching moments throughout the past 17 years... and they were all without Zander, the love of her life. I want to cry right now while I'm skimming the book, looking for specific passages & remembering just how bad things got for her. I have to admit, I kinda wish she would've moved on from Zander for a little bit. At the very least, I wish she would've "experienced" life more before they reunited years later. She was such a strong, hard-working and sweet woman. LOVE that she got her happily ever after in the end.

Man, did I want to go all Tangled on Zander's a**! I was so disappointed in him. Leaving without a word, NEVER communicating with her in ANY way, shape or form during those 17 years. Really, Zander?! You couldn't send one text, one letter, one email, pick up the phone or even send a message that was relayed through another person? *sigh* His reasoning, the whole "I wasn't good enough for her" thing, was weak. He was young. They both were young. It would've been better if he had just told her that he needed to pursue this one-in-a-lifetime career opportunity. She knew he was talented & she would've been sad but I'd take that over total avoidance any day of the week.

I enjoyed seeing how determined Zander was to win Annabelle back in the second half of the book.
