Jace knew that he left the best thing he would ever have back on the East Coast but he had to make a choice between his girl and his music. Now that she is in California he is determined to show her that even though he made a mistake leaving her behind he will never do it again if she will just give him a second chance. Can he get her to give him that chance though or will he be doomed to want only one woman and never have her?
This is a great story about finding love and fighting to make sure that you will never loose it. It also shows that no matter what the promise is that you make to someone the one you make to yourself is the most important one of all. There are some twists and turns in this book that I really want to tell you about but don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this is a must read that I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone.
McKinley goes by Kin by the people that love and care about her. She's brokenhearted to lose her mother and then the rest of her family too moving from Virginia to California. She doesn't know how she's going to survive. Her stepmother Jillian is a fake and fony and just wants attention and special treatment for herself and her daughters. Especially her oldest daughter Georgia is who is the same age as Kin. She's miserable and feels alone at their home but she made a promise and she won't break it. Luckily she meets Lucy Thornton and they become the best of friends. Lucy is a wonderful friend and she would do anything for Kin. Through Lucy, she sees Jace again when they go to Harris' club and every Thursday his band Tainted Knights. He broke her heart horribly by leaving while her mother was dying of cancer. He never tried to contact her again after he left and that hurt even more. She's got so much going on and she's miserable but Lucy makes her life a little better and going to Harris' club helps as well.
Jace has moved to California for his band but he misses Kin like crazy. So when he sees her again and she's in California he wants to get another chance. He won't give up and tries to call her and text her all the time even though she ignores it and doesn't respond. He just wants to prove to her that he knows he made a mistake and would never make it again. He and his sister Kassa had a pretty rough childhood until their parents just left them. But they got a wonderful second chance when Alicia St. Charles adopted them both. She was originally just wanting to adopt the little girl but she saw how much Jace loved her and she adopted them both. A year later, her nephew moved in with him and Gray Knight was horrible with Jace but he was good with Kassa. He competed with Jace for everything. They have the band together but he still doesn't really care for Gray and vice versa. He loves his family but he loves Kin so much and will do anything to prove to her that he cares about her.
Definitely worth reading. Looking for the next book in the series Un-shattering Lucy.
This story is all about Kin and Jace. A couple who knew each other in Virginia and through unforeseen circumstances ended up going their separate ways. In other words he left and she was broken hearted. Fast forward to them both being in the same location now and Kin is uncomfortable in her new surroundings. Her heart is breaking with the reality of how much her life has changed in such a short period of time. The only bright spot she has is Lucy Thornton. The daughter of Layla and Jessie Thornton the drummer for Demon's Wings. I love the connection between Lu and Kin. These two just make you smile from the very beginning. No matter what the circumstances.
Browning does a fantastic job tugging your heart strings throughout this book. You will feel every range of emotion from hurt, anger, lust, panic, rage, you name it and you'll feel it. It's one big emotional roller coaster ride right from the start. I will say I was hoping to have a little more closure when it came to Kin's father. Don't get me wrong it didn't detract from the story in any way shape or form. I just felt like there were some unanswered questions left on the home front when it came to that whole side of the family.
The connection between Jace and Kin was undeniable from the beginning it's clear they are meant to be together. It was a bittersweet how everything played out. I truly cannot wait for the next book in the series to see what happens with Lucy and Harris. Don't miss your chance to read this great work!
