I purchased this luggage set during an Amazon lightening deal. I figured at the sale price it's no big deal if the set is not the best. Upon arrival the set actually looked really nice. I like the orange color as it will stand out and be easy to spot. Empty, it is quite light and easily maneuvered around.

We recently took a trip to Texas and decided to give the large unit a try. We filled it with about 55 lbs of travel essentials and this is where we started experiencing problems. With all that weight the unit no longer moves around very easily. On a hard surface the wheels rolls fine but it required a lot of effort from me to keep it on course. For some reason it kept wanting to go in random directions. This problem is compounded when you get onto a softer surface like carpet. Now its like dragging it through sand. The wheels on the unit is quite small making it difficult to cross thresholds like elevator doors or divisions on the floor. There were multiple occasions where I wasn't paying attention and the wheels got caught on one of these thresholds causing the whole thing to tip over. Not only is this embarrassing, it was actually quite painful as I strain trying to catch it.

One direct flight to Texas and 2 connecting flights back with the unit checked, it arrived home with 2 cracks next to one of the wheels. I was having an unusually tougher time rolling the unit so I looked under it and saw the cracks. The cracks compromised the shell's integrity and made the wheel retract slightly into the unit leading to an uneven wheel base. The handle now also jams when I try to pull it up. Maybe TSA was extra rough with it but I hoped it was built to withstand a beating.

For context, I own a Roberts hard shell set just like this that was purchased from Costco. We've used it for years on multiple trips and it's never had any of these problems. I am giving this product 2 stars because I think the smaller unit will do just fine as long as I don't check it. Its quite small so I dont foresee ever having to put it through the same test its bigger brother failed.

This luggage set was purchased in January 2015 and was used 5 or 6 times and is already completely unusable. The quality of the casing is visibly poor and the shell dents/scratches easily. Without any sort of notice, the handle completely dislodged from the arm (see picture).

Arrived promptly with the smaller case within the 28 inch one. Both cases are super spacious on the inside with plenty of pockets. Very durable as well ! Will recommend to anyone ! :)

Suitcases look quite nice and the orange is definitely looking great. Interior smelled very "chemical" like on arrival but a bit of Febreeze and some airing out cleared the smell. The plastic hard sides feel very lightweight which may be good for the airport scale but may not bode well for durability.

I'm very skeptical of the handles, especially for the 28" suitcase, as they feel rather flimsy. I typically never get anywhere near the max weight for my luggage, but once this suitcase was filled with my usual travel stuff, it felt as though the handle would rip if not gingerly handled. Wheels rolled fine on smooth surface and swivel easily. A small, very cheap, padlock is included with each suitcase, but they are not TSA-compliant and probably could fall apart on their own during travels, so I can't expect them to keep my belongings secure, beyond being a token deterrent.

I've never had to use luggage warranty as usually the problem clearly stems from bags mishandling and airlines normally will repair bags they damaged. However, I'm even more unlikely to use the 5yr warranty that Rockland offers because it is essentially a Non-Warranty, reading:
"Fox Luggage Inc. warrants for a period of five years that this product will be free from defects in material and workmanship from the date of its original purchase. In the unlikely event that such a defect appears during the warranty period, Fox Luggage Inc. will repair or replace (at its discretion) the product with a comparable model. Simply write to us, [...] explaining the defect, purchase receipt, luggage information tag and $40 handling charge to [address], We will inform you where to mail your luggage, prepaid for warranty evaluation." Then lists a series of exclusions and ends with "[...] reserves the right to make the final judgement on all claims". What I read by this is don't bother trying to claim anything, but in the garbage and order a new suitcase (from another company).

So, time will tell how this luggage set works out, but I don't set my hopes up too high. First trip using it will be by car and then another one by plane. I'll update if something changes my opinion drastically.

This luggage is pretty and roomy but NOT durable. On the very first time through the airport the baggage handlers somehow managed to break through the shell and tear out one of the wheels to the extent that it is hanging on by the thin plastic uter shell and now unusable. What a shame!

Review after (2.5- 3 years of use.) Purchased in 2014

After almost 3 years of use and 27+ international flights with various connections.
This Luggage has proved to be a great value for the price. The luggage handles are functional with signs of wear but reliable enough to lift 23kg within the 28 inch by the handle. All wheels and handles are attached and fully functional.

Visible signs of wear but only cosmetic. I will purchase another and recommend as a good investment.

Review after 1 year of use and 9 international flights.
Excellent durability, with no indication of weakness.
Great value for money and functionality.

Just got back from a trip to California. The luggage is light, sturdy, spacious and with so many color options you will know it is yours as soon as it comes out on the carousel. I boarded the plane before my wife(B13 & B42) and she could see where I was sitting as soon as she walked onto the plane. She saw my bright yellow carry on suitcase in the overhead bin.

I guess the saying "you get what you pay for" applies here.

The first trip I took using this luggage set, both pieces were scuffed - to the depth of the ribbing.
Nothing was damaged inside; however, this was just a one-way, in country flight. I'm concerned how my luggage is going to fair as I continue my travels. I travel by air on the low end, 20+ times a year.

Not that $100-ish is anything to sneeze at, but it really is on the low end of the cost of two pieces of luggage. I'll do my research and get a sturdier set once these pieces are beaten up.
