I love the setting in England and the time frame the story took place. Takes me back to some very good memories. This book is jam packed with angst for both families. I totally love Eddie and Jane and their family - wonderful. Roy and Sammie were equally great until Roy screwed up. Something is always up with the families and that is what makes this book so interesting. However - I was only able to get through 72% of the book. I just couldn't take the other woman's baby and Sammy forgiving him. I can totally get that she loved him so much, he was the only love she ever had etc. but it was truly hard for me to swallow especially since there was someone else very interested in her and her in him. Also especially after reading the summary for the next book in which Roy continues his infidelity - after 16 years? REALLY - after what they have been through as a family? Made me want to throw up!
Some of you might be able to stomach this type of story line and for you I highly recommend it because it is a really good story and well written. The writing is great as well as the character build up. I might go back and just read the parts of Ed and Jane's family. I sure would like to know what happens between Jon and Jessica.
Even with it being fiction, I enjoyed the trials the lives of the rock stars of The Raiders went through. As I was reading, I recalled many tabloid headlines of rockstars of the 60's & 70's. The way the lives and friendships continued over the 40 years, the support given in the worst of time was heart warming.
