I wanted to love the Eureka, but there's a problem. On the inside of each Eureka shoe, there's a seam on one side of the shoe which results in a piece of fabric that sticks out. This piece of fabric rubs against the side of your foot and is very annoying and uncomfortable. If it weren't for this piece of fabric, I'd love the shoe. But when a shoe causes discomfort, that's a really bad thing since you have to wear it all day. I even bought a second pair of the Eureka in the hopes that it was just a problem with the first pair, but the second pair also has the piece of fabric sticking out, so I guess that's just how the shoe is designed.
I wonder if I were to continue wearing the shoe, would that piece of fabric get worn out and no longer bother my foot? I hope so, or I'll have to find another shoe.
Why can't shoe manufacturers make shoes with variable amounts of arch support?? Like...A1 for slight arch support. A2 for mild arch support. A3 for medium arch support. And A4 for big-time arch support. Come to think of it: I wonder if there are any websites now where you can literally design your own shoe from the floor up. That would be be awesome!!! Probably pretty expensive too.
Happily the Eureka are pretty budget friendly and a great pair of shoes for your feet. They also are dressy enough to wear to my work at least easily. They have a very cushioned feel. Every step feels padded but they are still light enough to wear comfortably all day. I am lucky that I can take walk breaks at work. These are great for those and then for the smaller ups and abouts all There is a bit of weight to them but it is weight well spent for comfort. I ordered the wide, I am usually between medium and wide. Happy I did. I would call the wide a medium wide. Highly recommended.
I knew I'd be walking for hours every day, and I thought Rockport was the best.
I got blisters on TOP of my feet because of the poor construction of the shoe.
The shoe is so badly made inside that are the sharp edges of pieces of the upper rubbing against your foot.
If they'd been properly trimmed, there wouldn't have been a problem.
Seriously, blisters on TOP of my feet?
I'm embarrassed to have spent $70 for a cheaply-made-in-China shoe.
I thought Rockport was better than that.
Rick Steves in his travel books actually recommends Rockports for being comfortable and durable.
Guess I've been reading old books.
Unlike most other shoes with composite soles, these Rockports also "breathe," keeping feet from getting annoyingly hot. And although not dress shoes, they are still very good looking in a youthful sort of way.
Having noticed in another review posted here that they scoff easily, before wearing I first treated them with some Mink Oil cream I had on hand, which both weatherized them against the snow and rain and has also seemed to conquer any scoffing problem. The Mink Oil very slightly darkened the brown color but enhanced it a bit as well.
Highly recommended, particularly at such a very good price.
