I have wanted to read this books for months - long before I even knew it's title or the name of the woman who would capture Joe's heart. I waited (impatiently) for release day. I bought it and read it all in one day. Now here I am again, waiting for Tina Radcliffe's next book. Though I don't know what she has in store for us next, I can assure you it will be heart-warming, romantic, and well worth the wait.
Rocky Mountain Cowboy is a second chance love story about "what could have been" becoming possible when forgiveness, compassion and understanding are put into action. The storyline has two high school sweethearts reconnecting years later and the journey they travel to deal with all the old issues that left one hurt and the other full of regrets.
Radcliffe's characters are so real they literally jump off the page. Joe Gallagher, the ex-boyfriend rancher is nursing wounds, both physical and emotional. He's surprised to learn his old girlfriend, Becca Simpson, who ran off to marry someone else, is his physical therapist for his new artificial arm. She's a single mom now with a difficult past. Joe doesn't want to feel anything for her or care, but he does. Becca's convinced the past can't be changed and she's unworthy of forgiveness anyway, so her only goal now is to take care of her daughter. Radcliffe's stellar ability to reveal both perspectives had me feeling the chemistry between them and the emotions of both.
Rocky Mountain Cowboy is a unique and inspiring story of overcoming relational and physical challenges. A story I thoroughly enjoyed and can recommend for its relatable issues, honestly portrayed characters and heart-stirring tenderness. I loved it!
I feel like I'm not explaining it well, but the amputation was a sad fact of his life, but he was a good patient, accepted his injury while regretting it, but a man moving forward, so the love story really is about the hero and heroine's feelings, not their professional relationship. I think it was so well done. They were just three dimensional people who did NOT wallow in misfortune but didn't pretend it wasn't a shame it'd happened.
I really loved this book and will read it again to see how Tina did this.
"Not worried. I've tried to banish that word from my vocabulary and turn things over to God."
"You can't be afraid to ask for help and you can't be afraid to accept it."
"The Lord brought you back here for a reason, Rebecca. Don't throw away your second chance."
*I was given a copy of this book. I'm delighted to provide my honest review.
