Rode SB20
Microphone Stereo Spacing Bar
The Rode Stereo Bar is a robust solution for mounting two microphones in a stereo array.
With clearly marked spacing of up to 20 centimeter, as well as angle and measurement indicators for ORTF and XY positioning, the Rode Stereo Bar makes it quick and easy to achieve complex recording arrays.
The 5/8 inch mounting threads are supplied with accompanying spacing clips to allow for easy positioning for stacked arrays, and the robust ABS construction makes the Stereo Bar stable and durable, allowing it to easily support the weight of two large diaphragm microphones such as the Rode K2.
- Compatible with mics that fit mounts with a 5/8" threading

First off, as someone new to stereo recording, it’s tough to position two mic stands properly not only to avoid phasing issues but just getting the correct angles for XY, ORTF, etc.
The guides on the bar are extremely helpful for placing your mics at the right angle for XY, ORTF, spaced pair, and anything else you could think of. It comes with two spacer clips attached to the bar so you can place one mic above the other when recording XY.
Plus it’s just nice not to have to deal with multiple mic stands.
As I mentioned it does come with spacers AND there’s a mic stand adapter that’s already screwed into the stereo bar so if your boom arm or whatever uses a larger threading just unscrew the metal adapter and you’re set to go plus you get a bonus adapter for your mic stands in the future.
One thing I would recommend is getting the pivot adapter because unless you have a really short mic stand or a taller chair then you’ll have a little trouble pointing the bar at the sound source. It’s not impossible but it’s worth spending the extra money. I didn’t know about that when I bought this and I’m going to purchase that now.

It is nice and light so it won't add lots of weight to the end of your mic stand or boom.
The reason I gave it 4 stars is because mine DID NOT COME with enough 5/8 adapters. There was one in the female receiver for the mic stand mounting, but the two studs for mounting mics were 3/8 and had no adapters.
The description on this item said that it came with adapters.
Amazon made it good by refunding me enough to get some adapters, but it's important that buyers know that they may not get them in the product.
The Rode SB20 is better than other stereo bars because of the dimensional markings and the ability to more accurately position your XY microphones by utilizing a spacer for one of your mics that raises it above the other mic.
