Fantastic mic for ambient sound. Really picks up details well. Whole different mic from what I am used to with my Sennheiser MK416 shotgun. Used it to record my daughter's choir concert from the back row of a church. Turned out perfect. FYI it does come with the web looking foam wind screen but ALSO the grey dead cat screen as well. I don't think that was clear and I kept trying to find the dead cat screen to purchase as well. Fortunately, I went on youtube and looked at one of the unboxing videos and saw that it came with it. I almost bought a second party dead cat to put on it before I watched the video. It is really powerful. I was sitting in the living room and my wife was in the kitchen about 30 ft away and I could hear her chomping potato chips. The whole package from the box it comes in to every piece of it I like. I did find that the EBL brand of rechargeable 9v batteries is slightly larger than the normal battery and doesn't come out well. Standard 9v's work fine. I think I'm going to have to put a piece of string around the rechargeable so I can pull it out. Other than that it works fantastic.
3 month update: Still love this mic. Also, I like the EBL batteries for use with it and solved the problem getting them out. Just take a piece of dental floss and put it around the battery between the +&- terminals before you push the battery in and let the two ends hang out the sides when you close the battery door and then you can easily pull it out again. Otherwise you have to bang the mic pretty hard numerous times to get it out and even then takes several tries. This is way too expensive piece of equipment to be banging around on.

Utilisé dans un cadre professionnel, ce n'est pas le premier micro Rode que je possède : Rode Videmicro, Rode Newsshooter, Rode ntg8... Je cherchais depuis longtemps un micro de qualité en stéréo pour des prestas particulières. Rode propose ses Rode Videomic Pro stéréo mais ils font un peu cheap et je voulais une connectivité XLR et quelque chose de plus pratique (en tournage) que mon Zoom H6N avec sa capsule X-Y (bien trop imposant).Reviewed in France on March 24, 2019
A souligner de prime abord, c'est un micro stéréo fait surtout pour capter l'ambiance. Ce n'est pas fait pour filmer des interviews (ou alors de très près), domaine où un micro canon (les rode videomic pro, etc...) fera plus l'affaire. Là, on compte de l'ambiance, de la musique et de la prise de son ponctuelle (bruits...)
Là, sur la photo branché à mon Sony A7III, je capte une session au piano avec l'ambiance public. Le moindre chuchotement est enregistré. Il est très sensible, même à 0db.
Dans ses très grosses qualités :
- Qualité sonore. D'office, en jack (alimenté par une pile 9V, j'utilise les piles rechargeables keestone, dispo sur Amazon aussi), c'est très bien, en xlr, c'est encore mieux. Plus besoin de pile, une sensibilité encore meilleure et surtout la possibilité d'enregistrer de vrais pistes de qualité, selon son enregistreur.
- Pratique : il est gros, il est là, il en impose (surtout avec ses impressionnantes bonettes), mais reste dans des dimensions contenus étant donné le niveau de sa prestation. Une griffe flash suffit.
- Qualité de fabrication superbe, tout en métal, on a pas peur de le manipuler. Les boutons répondent parfaitement. Reste le cable rouge Rode, typique de la plupart des produits. Mon conseil, toujours en avoir un de secours, il m'est arrivé par le passé qu'un cable me lache (ils sont fins, souvent en tension). Sur une presta critique, c'est critique.
- Toujours aussi appréciable : la fameuse garantie de 10 ans.
Au chapitre du "moins une étoile" :
- Le prix : A priori, j'ai cru comprendre que c'était un peu 2 capsules de NTG4 dedans. Ceci explique cela. Il faut en avoir donc l'utilité. Pour les pros, ça reste rentabilisable, pour les amateurs, un micro-canon avec un champs un peu large sera peut-être plus approprié, la stéréo en moins.
- A ce prix là, Rode aurait pu inclure 2 cables mini xlr, surtout qu'ils ne sont pas légion. Dommage.
- Une pochette dédiée pour le micro et ses bonettes (un manque habituel chez Rode). Là, il n'y a rien.

The Videomic works great. But it seems it was used already. It has lot of scratches on it. I don't mind to use it. But when you spend ~55k, it should be brand new. Glad Amazon has refund policy.
