1. Easy to mount (took all of 20 minutes and was perfectly level on all 4 sides).
2. Looks great in the hammered steel / chrome version.
3. Sturdy and strong when mounted into the studs.
4. The screws are properly spaced for stud mounting at 16" apart - 8 screws in all.
1. Screws are not long enough (had to be replaced with 1 3/4" instead of the 1 1/4" that were supplied).
2. Not enough hooks (comes with 8 but should come with 18-20).
3. Shelves are flimsy and not properly supported.
The last issue is rather huge. The side rails do not have any support for the shelves ... the support is only in the front & rear bars but really should be on the sides as well. By not having this, the ends of the shelves sag from the weight and make it unstable for placing heavy items. Furthermore, the shelves don't lock into place. They just sit there and curve with the weight of items... they also move from side to side. Terrible design for what would otherwise be an amazing pot rack.
I am keeping the rack because it is nice, strong and looks good. However, I would be much happier if the shelves were of similar quality. I had to use zip ties to keep the shelves from moving around and to give it a little extra support. Not the best solution, but it does seem to help a bit. I would still recommend this for the price. However I would also suggest looking at similar racks and seeing if they have better shelf designs.
We had some difficulty mounting it securely. The holes in the shelves are spaced at 1.5", 17.5" and 33.5". They are 16" apart which is designed to line up with normal stud spacing. However, if you do not plan to mount the rack lined up with the studs that way then you have a problem. We ended up drilling 4 additional holes through the 1/8" steel in the back of the shelves (using a drill press) and anchoring the shelves to the studs in two places each (instead of 3). We used 2" screws instead of the 1.25" screws provided. For the top supports we used some of the provided plastic drywall/plaster mounts. We feel it is secure, but obviously not as secure as if we had been able to mount to studs in the 8 places as designed. It took two people to mount it: one to hold it against the wall while the other person screwed it in. We pre-drilled the holes with a smaller diameter than the screws to make it easier (and quicker) to screw in. The Hammered Steel color is sort of a dark gray with lighter gray specs. It was a little darker than I had hoped. It is a very handsome rack.
I got this in the hammered bronze and black and the color is more of a muted gold than bronze, but it is absolutely lovely and totally classic and can work in any kitchen. It is also more streamlined then it looks in the photo. It barely sticks out from the wall, but still has plenty of room for all my stuff.
I being a budget shopper waited till this item went down in price and I'm so glad I did.I highly recommend it,and I had no problems with delivery, missing parts or the screws not being long enough. My landlord even asked where I got it so cheap as he liked the look of it so much he is wanting one now!

Sturdy and very useful in a small kitchen. Many of my cookbooks don't fit on the bottom shelf and it needs twice the amount of hooks. Its a great buy.Published on February 16, 2012 by T. Harrington
