Good reference for writers, but for me personally, it didn't quite scratch my vocabulary itch and I still find I'm using an online thesaurus. This is helpful to learn new words overall though, and it makes it easy to remember since they use categories to organize the words, rather than a regular thesaurus where it's basically random

学習英和辞典では難易度・頻度に応じて見出し語はA,B,C,Dに分かれているが、本辞典では見出し語がA,B ランクの語で、同意語、反意語、関連度としてあげられているのがC,Dランクの語である。たとえば、mistake の見出し語項目には、同意語として、aberration, blunder, contretemps, faux pas, gaffe, mea culpa, solecism, 反意語としてdefinitude, faultlessがあがっている。つまり平易な語より難しいラテン系、ギリシャ語系の語を知るための辞典である。この辞典で驚くべきは全ての語にフルセンテンスの作例、引用例が付いていることである(e.g. Looking at a Japanese customer directly in the eye during conversation is considered an egregious faux pas.)。また巻末の語索引が完備しているので一種の難語辞典としても使える。プロの書き手を目指すネイティブスピーカーを対象にしたシソーラスであるが、難語に関心のある我々日本人にも参考になる点が多い。
