After just seeing Rogue One in the movie theater it was the prequel movie most of us were hoping to see out of the original 3 prequel films that outright sucked. I enjoyed pretty much everything about Rogue One. To me it did seem fresh and original. I loved seeing Grand Moff Tarkin back on the big screen. I liked the fact that most of the major characters in A New Hope only have bit parts in this movie. The film gives us a nice feeling of desperation on the part of the Rebel Alliance. The film succeeds in leading us right into the point where “A New Hope” starts, setting up the story we all know and love. Peter Cushing looks great for a guy who's been dead for 23 years.

The K2SO droid was really the comic relief of this movie and did a great job. I liked how they didn’t use R2D2 and C3PO their story has already been told over and over. Some of the scenes with K2SO reminded me of the movie "I Robot" with his mannerisms. The Jyn Erso & Galen Erso characters are interesting I was glad she didn’t have any force powers and was pretty normal with genius parents. What good would the film have been if every hero had force abilities to fall back on? Having Vader the only one with force powers in the film gave it more weight. It was nice for a change not to see a long prolonged boring lightsaber duel just thrown into the movie for no reason.

The lead villain Director Orson Krennic also plays a very good part. You can see how power hungry he is and how much credit he wants for creating the Death Star and making it functional, yet he gets undermined by his superior Grand Moff Tarkin in a power play right when he proves his project is a success.

We saw this film at the movie theatre and we liked it a lot. It is an excellent story line and the fighting in the film is intense. The action and battle scenes seem more aggressive and violent than other Star Wars films and may not be suitable for younger children. It is a real ground battle and a space battle between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance Fleets. The special effects are first class in the film.

One of the things I enjoyed was the casting for the characters was well done. This film contained some of the best acting and likable characters we have seen in several of these movies. Just be aware that the film battles are violent and many of the characters are killed during the movie.

This is a prequel to the first Star Wars film ever made and this is a well scripted film with a lot of inside information of how the Death Star was built and how the rebels got their hands on the plans of the weapon. If you like Star Wars you will love this film.

I can’t wait until the BluRay disc is released. We have family film nights in our entertainment center on a 12 foot diagonal screen. I want to watch this film several times to get the full impact of the cinematic effects and the storyline. My only complaint was that in the theatre you could not understand what people were saying at times. At home with a BluRay we can turn on the sub-titles and the picture quality will be better. I can’t wait to add this film to our Star Wars BluRay video collection. Great film and I rated it at 5 stars.

Loved this movie. A Star Wars movie that actually showed a war. Right On! Also, there were characters we cared about and don't even get me started on the last part of the movie involving Vader. I was completely happy with this movie. One suggestion...

Get on the computer and watch the opening sequence, about the first 7 minutes, of Star Wars: A New Hope, Episode IV. The way it all connects is just WOW.

“We have hope. Rebellions are built on hope.” Many years ago the father of Jyn Erso (Jones) was taken by the empire and was assumed dead. The Empire, has built a planet sized weapon called the Death Star capable of unseen destruction. After Jyn and the rest of the rebels learn that it was her father responsible for designing the weapon they learn of a built in weakness. Now Jyn, Cassian (Luna) and a small rebel group set out to steal the plans for the weapon and begin to finally fight back against the mighty Empire and its leader, Darth Vader. This is a movie that is basically review proof. It’s Star Wars so either you will see it or you won’t. That being said this is a must see movie. Since acquiring the rights Disney has made two movies in this universe. The Force Awakens was great, but essentially a large budget remake of the original made for the fans. This one, I like more. The first third or so was a little slow but then it picked up to the point of me not wanting it to end. This movie takes place between episode 3 and 4 but is basically episode 3.9. The movie is a live action version of the crawl before A New Hope. The movie ends right where that one begins. The CGI that was used was perfect and allowed you to really be transported back to the original movie. I was a little hesitant at first because this wasn’t part of the “Star Wars Episode Saga” but after watching this I have to say that this one fits right in perfectly and really adds so much to the original that it made be want to watch that one immediately after seeing this one. Overall, any worries about Disney taking over the franchise have all but vanished after watching this. This is the prequel the world has been waiting for. I give this an A+.
